Will provide
needed grain
Ontario cattlemen were
assured adequate supplies of
western feed grains, particularly
oats, Monday by Justice Minister
Otto Lang.
R.E. McKinley (PC-Huron),
whip of the Conservative party
said feeders and dealers have
been unable to get supplies from
the Canadian Wheat Board or any
assurance of supplies during the
winter.
The minister said the rail strike
and congestion of rail traffic
which followed left supplies short
but the board is taking steps to
ensure adequate shipments.
Outside the House Mr.
McKinley said concern over lack
of recent shipments, particularly
of western oats, has been com-
municated to him by Huron
County dealers and by the
Ontario Livestock Feed Board. It
was their opinion that the wheat
board had miscalculated the
market and was having difficulty
catching up..
