Cubs collect •
coat hangers
The past week's highlight in
The Park had to be the fine effort
of the dance committee and the
tremendous response to the call
of such a worth cause as the
Arthritic and Rheumatic
Association by all who attended
Friday night. Joe Overholt and
his group put on a performance
that outdid even the Carlton
Show Band,
The evening ended with only
one minor incident. Bruce
Mathews lost his glasses. They
are bifocals and are very much
needed by him. If found, would
the finder kindly contact Mr.
Mathews in The Park,
Although Hallowe'en was of-
ficially celebrated by the kids in a
respectful manner last Wed-
nesday, the adults didn't think it
was over as was witnessed on
Saturday night. Spookes, bun-
nies, masquerading damsels and
many others paraded around in
our local club entertaining those
who preferred not to drink
through nylon stockinged head
covers or straw. Prizes were
presented to everyone par-
ticipating, while the band struck
up eerie music and the audience
wondered what and who the
masqueraders were. Hopefully
the future holds many more such
eventful weekend.
Attention snowmobilers: the
white stuff has appeared in our
area for the first of many times.
The next meeting is at the
Albatross November 14 . Be
there in force.
This Saturday the Cubs will don
their woolies and overcoats to
canvass the Park looking for all
your spare coat hangers. Be
pollution conscious. Get on your
hands and knees and look in your
closets and basement for wiry
little things. Tie them up and aid
the boys. They'll begin knocking
at your doors anytime after 1
p.m.
The Fire Fighters were again
active this past weekend - not
fighting or answering false
alarms, but training in case of
these mishaps. They also
welcomed Kark Tabello to the
ranks, He'll be replacing John
Skea who is now working in
London,
Minor Hockey is in the process
of selling tickets and preparing
for the upcoming dance at the rec
centre November 23 featuring
"Inbetween". This group is very
popular in the area so be sure to
attend.
This week's hockey pool
winners were Ron Lobb and Gary
Burns.
