A bridal shower was held
Tuesday night in the Elimville
Sunday School rooms for Susan
Parsons. Sandra Skinner read the
address and gifts were presented
by Helen Batten, Kathy Cooper
and Lois Johns. Mrs. Ron Flet-
cher gave a humorous reading
and several songs were enjoyed
along with contests.
A large crowd attended the
trousseau tea on Saturday at the
borne of Mrs. Donald Parsons in
honour of her daughter Susan,
whose wedding takes place

family shower Saturday for
Susan McDonald, Exeter.
Harold Bell is a patient in
University Hospital, London.

returned home Sunday after
enjoying a few days vacation in
Nova Scotia and a visit with their
daughter, Helen in Windsor, N.S.
They travelled via Air-Canada.

interested to know Ken Smithers,
London has been a patient in
Victoria Hospital for a few days
but is expected to be home soon.
Remembrance Day will be the
theme of the service in the United

Jack Macintosh, bartender-
waiter at the Shillelagh Motor
Hotel in Lucan for the past six
years, washonored with a lobster
and filet mignon dinner at Hooks
Restaurant, London by C, H.
Lewis and family and staff,
His employer and friends also
presented him with a gold watch
and chain.
Mr. Macintosh has worked
with Mr. Lewis for 20 years, first
as foreman of a construction
crew and then at the Shillelagh.
After the presentation, Mr.
Macintosh made a short speech
of appreciation.

The church wardens of St.
James, Clandeboye, Clarence
Carter and Murray Carter
presented the keys of the church
to the new rector Rev, John
Hofland at the induction service
in Holy Trinity Church Lucan on
Sunday.
The eight girls present at the
fifth 4-H meeting of the "Printin
Pals" had the opportunity to try
block printing using felt and
cardboard, The results were very
pleasing. Next meeting they will
experiment with lino blocks,
Mr. & Mrs. Beckett, Kitchener
and Mr. & Mrs. Waulers and
Mathew, Aylmer spent Sunday
with Mr. & Mrs. C. Millson and
Mr, & Mrs. Gerald Millson.
Gerald is home from hospital and
is feeling much better.

Monday the young people's
group of Zion United Church
staged their Hallowe'en party.
Prizes for costumes went to
Calvin Willert, monkey; Julia
Pfaff, hippy; Jenny McVeenie
and Cindy Eveland, husband and
wife, Mary Ellen Schlenker
monk.
Ronnie and Cathy Bowers and
Patty Pfaff came in disguise so
that their identity could be
guessed. Judges were Debbie
Finkbeiner, Heather Little,
Elaine Kestle, Lyle Little and
Rev. Douglas Warren,
Tuesday evening the Cubs had
their party, Costume prizes were
won by Everett Vandeworp, Paul
Wein, Robert Mitchell and Kevin
Epp.
Tom Blyde guessed the number
of candies in a jar. The leader
John Bierling, told ghost stories.

Thursday evening the U.C.W.
of Zion United Church held their
November meeting. A total of 27
members answered the roll call
by quoting a verse of scripture
containing the word "peace".
Mrs. Harold Fahner, Mrs.
Gordon Ratz and Mrs. Ray
Morlock presented the program,
the theme of which was peace.
Mrs. Morlock read the scripture
and offered prayer.
Mrs. Fahner and Mrs. Ratz
gave chart representation of the
Circle of Love, ever widening
circles spreading out from the
heart, through love of family and
the appreciation of life's value, to
integrity in all human
relationships.
Barbara Ratz played a piano
solo, Mrs. Ervin Ratz, Mrs. Alvin
Finkbeiner, Mrs. Fahner and
Mrs. Lloyd Lamport sang with
Mrs. Lorne Preszcator ac-
companying them.
During the business session it
was decided to help the Explorers
with their bazaar December 1,
and to donate the metal trays for
the kitchen to the schools for the
retarded,
Hostesses were Mrs. Emmery
Fahrner, Mrs. Ward Fritz,
Maleeda Schenk and Ella
Morlock.

Mrs. Isaac Gower is a patient
in University Hospital, London.
Mrs. Douglas Warren and Mrs.
Claire Schwartz attended the
Women's Rally in Barrie last
weekend.
Mrs. Chris Dinney spent a week
with relatives in Toronto and
Georgetown.
Mr. & Mrs. Sylvester Wuerth
