in Shamrock
The first Shamrock minor
league tripleheader at home this
season for Exeter teams proved
to be disastrous as far as scores
were concerned.
At the Exeter arena, Wed-
nesday Lambeth scored wins
over the local pee wee, bantam
and midget clubs. The visitors
took the pee wee game 5-2, the
bantam contest by a score of 8-3
and the midget count was 4-3,
The Exeter goals in the pee wee
game were scored by Jeff Fuller
and Tyler Bishop. In the bantam
game the local scoring was
headed by Perry Pooley with a
two goal effort. Notching the odd
counter was Derek Regier.
Rick Regier, Kevin Baker and
• Paul Shap ton were the Exeter
midget marksmen,

Saturday hockey has started
again for another season. The
only teams selected so far in
houseleague hockey are the four
Atom teams who play their
games from 9 to 11 each Saturday
morning.
The teams are Don Taylor
Motors, Cowans BP, Lankamps
Esso and Conklin Lumber. Each
of these sponsors provided a set
of sweaters for their team. More
players could be used on these
teams as each team only has
about 10 players so if you are in
this age group 9 and 10 years old
we would like to have you join our
hockey for the season.
Registrations will be accepted
any Saturday morning at the
arena. This applies to any age
group. More players can be used
on the various teams, so don't
delay, register now.
In pee wee and bantam hockey
we have two teams in each group
namely the A and B teams. The A
team will play in a league with St.
Thomas, Strathroy and Lambeth
and St. Marys. The B teams have
the ice each Saturday afternoon
for games and practice time. It is
hoped the B teams when fully
organized will have games with
St. Marys, Goderich, Hensall,
Zurich and Huron Park, to
provide the players with a full
winter of hockey. Pee Wee
coaches as of now are George
Tryan and Bill Van Bergan. The
bantam coach is Chan Livingston.
The Jr. Hawks in their first six
games have 1 win, 2 ties and 3
.Our team thisyear has a lot
of new players and it will take
some time for the team to jell. On
Friday night Lambeth will be the
opposition for the Hawks, so

your support will be appreciated.

100 YEAR LIFE EXPECTANCY
NOT UNLIKELY
Experts on longevity predict a "youth
pill" may be available within our lifetime.
This could result in an average lifespan of
100 years.
Besides taking a "youth pill" various other
factors can effect the rate of aging. These are
said to include balanced nutrition, proper ex-
ercise and relaxation. The pattern of modern
society which fosters overeating or depending
on quick valueless snacks; lack of exercise,
due to mechanical advancement; emotional
strains and stresses contribute to how fast our
bodies get old. If you want the machine,
which your body actually is, to function ef-
ficiently give some thought to these facts and
you may have discovered your own "youth
pill".

Sunday afternoon the Jets
travelled to New Hamburg and
were held to a 5-5 tie by the New
Hamburg Streaming Eagles.
Tonight, Thursday, the Lucan-
Ilder ton club travels to the St.
Thomas Memorial Arena to meet
the London Kings and Sunday
afternoon they will be at home to
the Preston Jesters for a two
o'clock contest.
Exciting contest
The Sunday game in which the
Jets and New Hamburg played to
a 5-5 deadlock was an exciting
game with both teams sticking
strictly to hockey. Each team
drew only five penalties.
The Jets were forced to
overcome a three goal deficit in
the last 10 minutes of play to gain
a single point.
Single goals were traded in the
first period with Jim Pinnegar
getting the Jets score and Tom
Pearson replying for New
Hamburg.
The Screaming Eagles moved
ahead in the second period on
goals by Bob Ruthig and Ed
Wilton. The lone Lucan-Ilderton
score came from the stick of Rick
Fyfield on a pass from Jamie
Robb.
By the 9.35 mark of the final
frame, the New Hamburg club
held a fairly comfortable lead on
successful shots by Orest
Romashyra and Frank
Strathearn.
In a span of 32 seconds just past
the halfway mark, the Jets pulled
into high gear to score two quick
goals.
Steve Proctor scored on a three
way effort with Barry Baynham
and Jacques Cousineau and Tom
Hodgins scored with help from
Pete Loveless.
The game tying score was a
long screen shot from the blue
line fired by Steve English.
Playing coach Jack Nairn and
Tom Hodgins helped set up the
play.
With New Hamburg leading 3-2
near the three minute mark of the
third period a penalty shot was
awarded to the Jets when a New
Hamburg defender fell on the
puck in the goal crease.
Jack Nairn took the shot but he
fired the puck over the net from
in close. Both goalies Dan Lipela
of L-I and Paul Steffler of New
Hamburg turned in fine efforts.
Fall behind early
Against Durham Friday night,
the Jets fell behind early as the
Huskies scored four times in the
first period.
The Jets goals came from the
sticks of Jamie Robb, Jacques
Cousineau, Tom Hodgins and
