with win over Bothwell

In their first starts in
Shamrock minor league play this
week, Exeter teams got off to a
good start with three victories in
four games.
Monday night in Strathroy, it
was a clean sweep for Exeter in a
tripleheader. The Broncos won
the atom game 4-0, the Legion
Auxiliary pee wees scored an 8-2
victory and the Kinsmen midgets
were victorious by a score of 3-1,
In a Tuesday night contest, also
in Strathroy, the Legion bantams
were edged 7-6 by Strathroy.
Bill Glover and Edward Willis
each scored two goals to lead the
Broncos shut-out win over
Strathroy.
Doug Brooks went on a scoring
spree with a four goal per-
formance to pace the 8-2 Exeter
pee wee win, Dan Bell was next in
line with two goals while singles
were notched by Dave Atthill and
Brian Mercer.
Perry Pooley fired two suc-
cessful shots to head the bantam
scoring in a losing cause.
Scoring in single fashion were
Randy Parsons, Dennis Presz-
cator, Paul Pooley and Randy
Fisher.

The Lucan-Ilderton Jets made
their season start in the new
Ontario Hockey Association
Continental Senior league a very
auspicious one.
The Jets with playing coach
Jack Nairn again at the helm
downed the Bothwell Barons by
an 8-3 score at the Ilderton arena,
Friday night.
The Jets were back in Bothwell
last night Wednesday for a return
engagement with the Barons.
They will be at home this Friday
4-H club
takes honors
Members of the Exeter 4-H
horse and pony club took most of
the top honours for Huron County
in a recent competition held at
Gorrie.
Competing against clubs from
Blyth and Howick the cham-
pionship horse and showmanship
awards went to Barbara
Preszcator and her horse Little
Miss Bright Eyes.
The reserve champion was
Trudy Johns with her pony,
Perky Princess. Jerry Sims was
the winner in the colt division and
Steve Preszcator placed second
in the horse section. Also com-
peting from the Exeter club was
Gail Johns.

A junior girls team from South
Huron District High Schpol will
be competing Saturday in the all-
Ontario Secondary Schools cross
country meet.
The seven girls placed second
in a Friday Western Ontario meet
at Woodstock and qualified to
compete in Brantford for the all-
Ontario championship.
In the WO run-off, the South
Huron girls finished second to
Seaforth. A total of 16 teams were
competing. Members of the team
are Janet Gielen, Kim Postill,
Kathleen Gielen, Agnes. Van
Esbroeck, Esther Snyder, Tracey
Turner and Karen De Jong.
South Huron also finished
second in the Huron-Perth finals
held at Goderich.
George Van Esbroeck turned in
a fine performance in the senior
boys event while Kevin Bestard,
Doug Osgood, Don. Van Raay,
Paul Reaburn, Tony Kyle and
Steve Robinson put on a
creditable show - in junior
divisions.
The midget boys team was led
by Wes Abbott, Dave Rawlings,
Paul Van Esbroeck and Eugene
King.
The midget girls on the
two minutes of the third period to
complete his hat trick as he
converted passes from Nairn and
Cousineau on a power play.
The final Jets' score also came
on a man advantage situation
with Dick Doughty scoring from
Terry Bourne.
The Jets outshot the Barons by
48-34. Dan Lipala was in goal for
the first two periods for L-I with
Don Stewart taking over for the
final session.
