T-A photo Sorority plans dance to aid arthritic group Members of the Xi Gamma Nu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met Tuesday at the home of Donna Livingston and for roll call, gave their definition of happiness. Guest speaker was Gwyn Whilsrnith who gave a slide presentation and interesting program on "The beautiful". Diane Wooden reported that Joan Allen, Exeter is the recipient of the sorority's annual $50 nursing scholarship. Sally Lou Raymond was ap- pointed convener for the sorority float for the Christmas parade. The Canadian Arthritic and Rheumatism Society will be supported this year by help from the sorority chapter and students of Centralia College. Towards this end, a dance will be held at the Huron Park Recreation Centre November 2. Alpha Pi Alpha Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met at the home of Lillian Campbell Tuesday with 12 members and three guests present. The theme of the program was "jewellery" and guest speaker was Earl Campbell, who gave an interesting and informative talk on the subject. Plans were made for the pledge banquet to be held October 30 at the Dashwood Hotel, Wilma Wraight won the "swaperoo". NFU group holds draw Two recent functions of the National Farmers Union were well attended. On Friday October 5, a large crowd packed the hall at Sebringville for a dance and ticket draw. The car in thb draw was won by Earl Schmids of Milverton, Mrs. Martha Hanson of Stratford won a snowmobile and the winner of a color TV was Brad Hutchinson of G orrie. Area Local 317 of the NFU recently sponsored a dance at the Dashwood Community Centre in aid of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Becker who lost a barn by fire a short time ago. Effective October 1, 1973 the board will pay 75 percent of the Woman charged in shooting death A St. Marys area woman ap- peared in provincial court in Stratford Wednesday to face a charge of non-capital murder in connection with a shooting death Sunday. Patricia Ruth Tucker of RR 6, St. Marys was charged after Raymond Bailey was shot at his residence about 4.45 p.m., Sun- day. The farm home is located on Concession 8 of Blanshard township about six miles, nor- theast of Granton. The woman made a first court appearance Monday but was remanded until the Wednesday session. A question of fencing en- croachment at Wingham Public School is to be turned over to the board's solicitor for investigation and recommended action. Americans killed i▪ n Pinery crash Two Michigan persons were killed in a crash of a car and a transport truck on Highway 21, near Port Franks, Saturday evening. Constable P.M. Clushman of the Ontario Provincial Police detachment at the Pinery Park reported Marjorie Michaud, aged 25 and 10 week old Todd William Boos were pronounced dead at the scene. The accident involved a car driven by the child's father, Dennis Boos of Gregory, Michigan and the truck driven by Richard Aaron Wahl of Likowel. Mr. Boos and a daughter Roberta are in serious condition in Sarnia General Hospital. Mrs. Boos is in satisfactory condition. Bruce Michael Michaud, husband of the dead woman was treated at hospital and released. Constable Clushman set total damages at $5,000. Damages of only $75 resulted from the only other accident investigated this week by the Pinery Park detachment. Involved in a mishap on Grand Bend's Main street were vehicles driven by Albert Manneron, Forest and Herbert Pfile of Grand Bend. Constable F.A.
