Three farmers from Stephen
township and a group of residents
from Oakwood Park subdibision
were the only objectors at a
hearing in Crediton Thursday to
consider an application for a
modular home park near Grand
Bend.
The hearing by the Ontario
Environmental Board considered
a lagoon to handle a sewer
system for the park to be
developed by Holiday Holdings.
The property in question in-
cludes 93 acres on part of Lot 2,
L.R.E. Consession in Stephen
township with frontage on high-
way 21, just north of the Grand
Bend village limits. The owner is
David Jackson of Grand Bend.
The proposed park when built
to maximum would have 215
dwellings on the same number of

Home Systems in Hensall,
The engineer for the developer
explained the homes are
described •as mobile only because
they are moved to the site on
wheels. Once at the park they are
fixed on foundations and become
permanent.
He continued "a lagoon system
when operated properly does not
cause any offensive odours".
This was the objection put forth
by the Oakwood delegation and
Don Hulbert and Mansell Mason,
residents on the east side of high-
way 21.
Bill Moore of London, an Oak-
wood owner said he wanted
answers on zoning and planning.
He was told a mobile home park
did not require approval of a
planning board.
Moore suggested "this
development is five years ahead
of time. Stephenand Grand Bend
should work togethei^ on sewer
planning."
A Thedford lawyer Philip
Waldon representing abutting
farmers Jim Patterson, Elmer
Desjardine and Fred Desjardine
said his clients were councerned
about drainage.
Existing drains from the farms
to the east now go through the
property proposed for the park
and they felt outlets would be
affected.
They were assured drains
would be relocated with no in-
terruption of drain courses.
Waldon also suggested children
from the park could cause
damage to crops in neighbouring
fields.
He was told the park was
geared for senior citizens and
children would not be part of the
permanent population.
The lot sizes will be from 60 to
70 feet by 100 to 110 feet. All
services will be underground.
The chairman for the hearing
was David Caverley, newly
appointed chairman of the
Ontario Environmental Board
and former manager of the
Ontario Water Resources
Commission,
A decision on the hearing is
expected within the next couple
of weeks.
