enjoy visit.
For the past two weeks. Mr. and
Mrs. Karl li, Vermaeten and
family, Sherwood Crescent,
Exeter, newcomers to Canada
themselves only last summer,
have had two special visitors in
the persons of Mr. Vermaeten's
mother, Mrs. Helene Vermaeten
of Wesel, West Germany, and his
aunt, Friederike Peters, of
Isselburg, West Germany.
Mrs. Vermaeten is 73 and her
sister, Mrs, Peters is flO, and for
both of them it is the first time
they have crossed the ocean or
have flown in a jet.
Because of this, they were both
invited by the captain of the plane
to visit the cockpit during flight,
have everything explained to
them and be introduced to the
rest of the crew.
Since their arrival, both ladies
have travelled quite a bit in
Ontario and have loved every
minute of it.
They are amazed about the
good highway and street systems
and in the north of the province
they were surprised and im-
pressed with the number of
beautiful lakes and wild forests.
Niagara Falls, especially the
Canadian Falls will be un-
forgettable.
They found Toronto exciting,
but said they would never trade it
for the peace, quiet and charm of
Exeter.
The ladies were also impressed
with the school system in
Canada, compared to some of the
European countries they have
visited. In other espects too, they
think Canada is a paradise for
children,
Before Mrs. Mermaeten and
Mrs Peters leave Exeter, they
will have the pleasure of seeing
their grandson and nephew Jack
Vermaeten receive his first holy
communion at Our Lady of Mount
Carmel Church.
