for CNIB
The annual canvass in Hensall
and area on behalf of the
Canadian National Institute for
the Blind will be held early in
October. Eric Luther, campaign
chairman, will be enlisting the
aid of localorganizations to assist
with a door-to-door canvass in
Hensall.
Area residents are requested to
mail their contributions to Mr.
Luther at the Bank of Montreal.
There are 79 blind people
receiving C.N.I.B. service in
Huron County. The campaign for
last year totalled $801, which is
the highest on record for the
Hensall area.
This year a target of $850 has
been set.
Your generous donation will be-
very much appreciated.
Honour couple
on anniversary
Mr. & Mrs. Edward James
Roberts were honored Saturday
with a silver wedding an-
niversary party held by their
family. They were presented with
a crystal chandelier, They
celebrated their 25th anniversary
September 25.
Mrs, Joe Flynn had the
pleasure of catching a ten and
one-half pound rainbow trout
while fishing at Kincardine
recently.
Mr. & Mrs. Charles Goodman,
Detroit visited last week with Mr.
& Mrs. Jack Corbett.
Mr. & Mrs, Lorne Chapman
returned home after a pleasant
visit with the former's brother-in-
law and sister Mr. & Mrs. Robert
Price in Bloomington, Indiania.
Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland,
Gwen and Michael were recent
visitors with Mr. & Mrs. James
Sangster and Bradley.
Mr. & Mrs, Joe Flynn and Mr.
& Mrs. Jack Corbett returned
home after spending the weekend
at Kincardine.
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Ashard,
London, England and Mr. & Mrs.
Al Hoggarth, Greg, Paul and
Janet visited Saturday with Mr,
& Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and
Mrs. Daisy Ivey who was
orginally from London, England.

with Mr, & Mrs. Gordon Sch-

David Leader, who has been a
patient in South Huron Hospital
returned home this week.
Mr. & Mrs. Alwyn Dayman,
Grand Bend were recent visitors
with Mrs. Alda Simmons.
Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren,
Jodi and Brooke, Oakville visited
Sunday with Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor.
George Ingram who was a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter has returned home.
A wife yelled at her husband,
"There are more than 100 empty
whisky bottles in the closet!
Where do they all come from?"
"Don't ask me," the husband
replied. "I never bought an
empty whisky bottle in my life."

The two top steers in the Exeter
Agricultural Society feeder calf
club competitions were pur-
chased by local merchants.
Fred Darling of Darling's IGA
in Exeter bought the grand
,champion calf, owned by Keith
Passmore. The finished weight of
the calf was 1,096 pounds and the
selling price was 68 cents per
pound,
The reserve champion shown
by Cathy Easton for her brother
Doug was purchased by Morley
Hall of Exeter Frozen Foods. It
was sold for 60 cents per pound.
Darling and Hall each pur-
chased two other animals. Five
steers were bought by Shur-Gain-
Canada Packers and three by the
Hensall Livestock Sales.
Buying one calf each were A &
H Food Market, Dalton Fink-
beiner, Centralia Farmers and
Woodham Meat Market.

United Nations Pilgrimage for
youth "speak off" and trip to the
United Nations for two weeks will
speak,
Everyone is invited to hear this
local youth speak in the Lodge
Hall, sponsored by the Amber
Rebekah and Oddfellow's
Lodges. Progressive euchre will
follow the speaking,
Mrs. Mary Gregg Clinton
district deputy president of
Huron District 23 will visit the
lodge October 3 with her in-
stallation staff to install the
members of Amber Lodge for the
ensuing term,
Assembly President Mrs.
Margaret Duckworth will visit
Goderich Rebekah Lodge
November 6 when the members
of Amber Lodge will attend.

for ACW
The regular meeting of the
ACW of St. Pauls Anglican
Church was held at the home of
Mrs. D. Windover, In the absence
of the president, vice-president
Mrs. Windover presided,
The meeting opened with the
members prayer and devotions
which was taken by Mrs, Win-
dover and Mrs. Scrabuik. The
scripture lesson followed.
A motion was made to send $25
to the United Pledge Fund. Roll
call was answered with a Bible
verse having the word "Joy" in
it. and October 20 was the date set
for the bazaar and bake sale.
United Church Service
The Sacrament of baptism was
held in Hensall United Church
Sunday. Denise Nicole, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William Brown
received the rights of baptism.
The choir sang an anthem and
Rev, Don Beck preached on the
sermon topic, "The claims of
Baptism."
At Chiselhurst David John,
son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jacobi,
and Jodi Beth daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Sararas received
the rights of baptism.

William Robert Bell, Hensall
passed away September 22, 1973
at Huronview, Clinton in his 81st
year.
He was the husband of the late
Gertrude Zuefle and son of the
late Mr. & Mrs. Jas. A. Bell,
Hensall.
Surviving are five sons: John,
Chatham; William H. Hensall;,
Ronald, Windsor; Donald,
Toronto; Robert, Thamesford;
and three daughters; Mrs. John
(Margaret) Brown, Peter-
borough; Mrs. Henning (Alma)
Ingamensen, Chicago; and Ellen
Knight, Exeter.
A brother, Elliott R. Bell,
Toronto; sister Mrs. James
(Jessie) Campbell, Windsor, 17
grandchildren and two great-
grandsons also survive.
Mr, Bell, was a member of
Carmel Presbyterian Church and
an elder on the session board.
Funeral service was conducted
from Carmel Presbyterian
church, Sept 24 with Rev. Donald
Beck officiating.
Interment was in Baird's
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were five sons and
one grandson, William H., John,
Ronald, Donald and Robert Bell
and Allan Knight.
