A gasoline with too low an oc- tane rating can cause knocking or "pinging", and may damage engine parts. The most important engine sur- faces to be lubricated are the frictional surfaces of the pistons, cylinder walls, main and camshaft bearings, timing gears and valve mechanism. To prevent overheating, have fan belts and hoses checked before going on a trip. Squealing tires may indicate low tire pressure, or a wheel alignment problem. A sinking brake pedal may mean you have a brake fluid leak — have it checked at once. * It may be time'to think about a trade- in. Require many yelpers Times -Advocate, September 15, 1973 Pe 7' EMHA executive returns The entire executive of the Exeter Minor Hockey Association was returned at the annual meeting, Wednesday. About 20 enthusiasts attended the meeting. President of the organization is Bev Skinner. Other executive members are: Bob Pooley, vice- president; Bili Batten, secretary; Alvin Willert and Gary Middleton, treasurers. Wayne Pearce was named contact man for the Shamrock league for the coming season and Willert will act in the same capacity for the Junior Hawks. Registration dates for minor hockey were set for September 29 and October 6. Faced with increased ice rental times, the EMHA increased fees this year. Boys in the atom and novice group will pay $10; pee wee, bantam and midget will be $12; and the family plan is $18. A lengthy discussion was held on obtaining coaches, managers, referees and other helpers for the coming season and it was decided to solicit assistance through a newspaper advertisement. The executive was left in charge of naming officials for the various teams and functions of the association, It was agreed to engage the South Huron Referees Association to handle duties again this year. Members were advised that the Shamrock league has been regrouped and the OMHA has put Prices very low at standard sale While attendance was good the prices were low at a sale of standardbred race horses at the Clandeboye area farm of Neil McRann, Thursday. The highest price was $1,300 received by McRann for Ginger Duke, a chestnut filly by Newport Duke. Several horses were not sold due to the low bids being offered. The auctioneers were Tom Robson and Hugh Filson. 11)40 Auto Soles DOUG ROBBINS EXETER 235-1533 oofi Junior reluctantly shuffled out of the house on his first business venture: selling magazine subscriptions. After another out was made, Bill Farquhar singled to score Schilbe with the fifth run of the inning. In the Exeter sixth, Bill Farquhar singled, Bill Bourne tripled and Barry Baynham doubled to score two runs. In the eighth, pitcher Jim Pfaff blasted a base empty home run to account for the final Expo run. With the Expos leading 9-5 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, they appeared to have a comfortable lead. The Wingharn club quickly changed this. Catcher Wilson doubled to score two runs with one out and the Exeter lead was cut to only two. At this point manager Ken Saxton of the Wingham club arrived at the game after at- tending a town meeting. Saxton, who played in Exeter more than 10 years ago quickly shed a tie and jacket for a baseball uniform and stepped to the plate as a pinch hitter. He wasted little time in blasting the ball over the short right field fence for a ground rule double and one more run. Exeter hurler Jim Pfaff was able to settle down and retired the next two batters to end the game. Although Pfaff was touched for an even dozen hits he recorded 13 strikeouts. In two innings he retired the side on strikes.
