Enumerators back to work They'll be back again. Enumerators for the counties of Huron and Perth will be retracing their steps because 2,300 enumeration forms were stolen from the, regional assessment office here last Friday. Barry Eastwood, regional assessment commissioner, said Monday the theft "is strange and senseless." He said nothing was taken from the office except two stacks of just-completed forms which were left on a desk Thursday night. There were no signs of forced entry. Goderich Police Chief Patrick King said no leads have turned up yet. He said the office was open for about 30 minutes Friday morning before most employees arrived. Mr. Eastwood said the disappearance of the forms wasn't made public earlier because there was a possibility someone picked them up by mistake. The forms are used to draw up voter's lists, and school support lists for local taxation and census statistics. The commissioner said there was no value attached to the papers for the average person. "It makes you wonder what makes people tick. It must have been done out of spite," he said. Mr. Eastwood said 150 part- time enumerators will take two or three days to duplicate the forms which involves visiting 2,300 properties in 35 com- munities. Until the mystery is solved, he said, security at the office will be tight. The main doors will be kept chained and padlocked after hours until the locks are changed, Tony Kyle who, attended the "United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth" in New York City sent a letter of appreciation to the Lodge.
