Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Gebel and
Susan spent the weekend in Oak-
wood at their summer home.
Mr. & Mrs. Carter London were
visitors with Arn and Elsie Lewis
and they all attended the dance at
the arena.
Betty Ann Lewis is visiting and
traveling with Pete and Marg
Manders.
Judy Henry spent the week
visiting with Peggy Steeper at
Bayfield.
Andrew Robertson has com-
pleted his term at Dashwood
Industries and is preparing to
enter Fanshawe College this
school term,
Helen Simpson who has been
working at Victoria Hospital for
the summer is now home and is
preparing for her first term at the
University of Western Ontario.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Morgan and
family are leaving Clandeboye
and moving to the Morgan farm
on the 4th line after completing
renovations there. Mr, & Mrs. A.
Morgan will be residing in Earl's
former home in Clandeboye.
Clandeboye girls came second
in the baseball league. Poplar
Hill took the lead after they took
two in a row.

Friday Olive Speare was a
guest of honor at a farewell party
at the home of Mrs. John Jef-
ferson. A short program was
presented consisting of readings
by Mrs. Glen Elliott and Mrs.
Calder McKaig, a contest con-
ducted by Mrs. McKaig and a
solo by Mrs. Thos. L. Scott.
Mrs. Roy McCulloch was at the
piano for a sing-song and Mr.
Barningham entertained with
several piano selections. Otto
Walker gave the address and
Miss Speare was presented with a
set of bathroom accessories. The
evening closed with euchre.
Miss Speare has sold her home
to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cronin of
Mitchell and is moving to an
apartment in Mitchell.
Vandalism
Vandals were at work in the
community Friday and in the
early hours of Saturday morning.
Not only were bicycles belonging
to the Kinsman twins, Janet and
David, hoisted over half way up
the light towers at the park, but a
road sign was left leaning against
the backstop, mailboxes were
overturned, and two large
tombstones in the Cromarty
Cemetery were upset.
Ron Edwards, assisted by a
man from Elimville, rescued the
bicycles before the Bantam game
on Friday night.
Sports
In the first game of the best-of-
five playoffs between Cromarty
and Chiselhurst men's slow-pitch
'teams Sunday night, Cromarty
handed Chiselhurst a 16-3 defeat.
Ron Howard was on the moupd
for Chiselhurst while Eldon Allen
pitched for Cromarty with John
Scott taking over for the last
couple of innings.
With Maurice Ruston on the
mound and Ron Elliott behind the
plate, Hibbert South Bantam
Boys eliminated Blanshard in the
last game of their best-of-three
playoffs. Unlike the first two
games, Hibbert took an early
lead that was never threatened.
Ruston had 13 strikeouts to his
credit in the game, which ended
21-5 in their favour. Brad Mar-
sden was again the big man with
the bat, getting his second grand
slam homer in• as many games.
The game was played in Kirkton
Wednesday night.
Saturday in Cromarty, the
• Bantams won their first game of
the semi-finals again,st Elimville
by a score of 26-9, Home runs
were scored by Brad Marsden
(2), Andrew Laing and Dwight
Kinsman.
In the earlier game on Friday
night. Hurondale Bantam girls
defer .ed Cromarty girls 17 to 3 to
take home the trophy for the
B'.ntam League.

Elimville by 15-13; Hurondale
won over Elimville 10-B; Hibbert

Playing in the championship
games, Hibbert Peewee girls
defeated Elimville 27-9 to win
their trophy and Hurondale boys
defeated Hibbert A 11-5 to take
home the Peewee boys' trophy.
