WED RECENTLY - Robert Milton Ulch, RR 1, Mitchell and Mrs, Mildred
Bell, Hensall exchanged wedding vows August 24, 1973, at Hensall
United Church. Rev. Don Beck conducted the ceremony and the couple
was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bickell, Kirkton, The groom is the
son of Mrs. Margaret Ulch and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Lloyd Ballantyne. On their return from a wedding trip to Calgary
the couple will reside at RR 1, Mitchell, (photo by Haugh)

Earl Robert Dick RR 2, Staffa
died suddenly in Brewer, Maine
while on a trip to the east coast,
August 22, 1973 in his 64th year.
Always interested in public
affairs, Mr. Dick served on the
Hibbert Township Council and
other organizations.
He was elected to the Hibbert
Council in 1948 and served as a
councillor until 1958. He directed
council affairs as reeve until 1966.
He was a member of the
Seaforth Community Hospital
Board for over 20 years a
member of the Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation Authority and
served on the Hensall, Mitchell
and Seaforth Fair Boards. He
was a director 'of the Van
Egmond Foundation.
Mr. Dick was a member of
Mitchell Branch No. 128 of the
Royal Canadian Legion and of
Loyal Orange Lodge in Mitchell.
Born in Hibbert Township, he
was the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. George Dick, Hensall. He
was married in Staffa in 1935 to
the former Velma McNichol.
Surviving are his wife, three
daughters: ,Mrs. Louis (Shirley)
Kramers, Dublin; Mrs. Wayne
(Donna) Reid, RR 1 Aylmer; and
Mrs. Larry (Bonnie) Kellington,
Springfield; three sons,
Reginald, Seaforth; and Gordon
and Douglas at home.
He is also survived by four
sisters, Mrs. Wilmer (Grace)
Broadfoot, Seaforth; Mrs. Jack
(Jessie) Verbeem, Port Lamb-
ton; Mrs. Charles (Helen)
Forrest, Sarnia; Mrs. George
(Margaret) Lythgoe, Strathroy;
a brother Edwin, RR 2, Staffa
and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at the
Bonthron Funeral Chapel,
Hensall, August 15. Interment
was in Staffa Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Brint-
nell, Alvin Cole, Ross Riley, Jack
Chappel, Jack Kinsmen and
Clarence Coleman.

The families of Wm. J. and
Harry A. Caldwell had a reunion
at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Harold
Caldwell Sunday.
Guests were present from
Hamilton, London, Grand Bend,
Exeter, Mitchell, Hensall and
Kippen.
The sports program was
arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Caldwell. James McGregor, on
behalf of community friends,
thanked the Caldwells for being
included in the picnic
Cudmore family picnic
About 40 attended the Cudmore
family picnic, which was held at
the home of Mr. & Mrs. Orville
Workman Sunday.
Guests were present from
Exeter, Seaforth, Toronto,
Stratford, Oshawa, Kitchener,
Wallaceburg, Clinton. Kippen
UCW provided a smorgasbord.
Old family pictures and a
skeleton sketch of a family tree
proved interesting for the
.descendants of Wm. and Louisa
(Philips) Cudmore and of
Thomas and Mary Ann (Johns)
Cudmore.
Mr, & Mrs. Orville Workman
live on the William Cudmore
homestead where Cudmores or
their descendants have lived
since the early 1850's.
Personals
Mr. & Mrs. Arie Binnendyk are
holidaying in Holland. During
their absence Mr. & Mrs. Gerald
Venema and family are
holidaying on the farm.
Mr. & Mrs. D.E. Kyle have
returned from a visit to the
eastern provinces and to their
son's home.
An accident involving two cars
driven by John Timmermans and
Eldon Jarrot occurred at the
Kippen corner.
Mrs. Ruth Dickert, Harriston
visited with Mrs. Norman
Dickert.
Mr. & Mrs. W,L, Melles and
Mrs. Margaret Barnard attended
the funeral of their sister Mrs.
Isabelle (Gibson) Seifert,
Wroxeter. Mrs. Seifert died
suddenly at her home with in-
terment in Fordwich Cemetery,
Friday.

Mrs. Robert Annan, Larry,
Nancy and Blair, Piekering
visited with Mrs. Edith Miller
and relatives for a few days the
past week, They also visited with
Mr. & Mrs. Bert Pascuzzo,
Strathroy, saw Rock Glen at
Arkona Friday and attended the
bean festival in Zurich Saturday.
Robert Annan, who is employed
by Kenting Aviation, Ottawa, has
not returned home yet, due to the
rainy season in Kenya, Africa.
Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Last, Randy
and Donna, Windsor spent the
weekend with Mr, & Mrs.
Thomas Slavin,
Mrs. Ray Reffett, Palm Bay,
Florida is visiting with her
mother, Mrs, Tom Slavin.
Mrs. Allan Johnston is a patient
in Victoria Hospital London,
where she is receiving treatment.
Debbie Eckel, Zurich visited
last week with her grandparents
Mr. & Mrs. Blighton Ferg,
Mrs. Laird Mickle spent a few
days last week holidaying with
her daughter Mrs. Ross Mac-
Millan and Ann at Southcott
Pines.
Mr. & Mrs. William Simpson,
Birmingham, Michigan visited
last week with their aunt Mrs.
F,G. Bonthron,
Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren,
Jodi and Brooke returned to their
home in Oakville after visiting
with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor.
Church Services
Kenneth Toten S.T.H. London,
President of the Bible Society of
Western Ontario was in charge of
the service in St. Pauls Anglican
Church Sunday morning. The
flowers were in memory of Jean
Middleton and Earl Dick.
Grant and Kenneth Jones
provided the special music for
Hensall United Church service
Sunday. Kenneth accompanied
on the accordion while both boys
sang.
The topic for Rev. Don Beck's
sermon was "Thermometer or
Thermostat". The flowers placed
in , the church were from the
funeral on Saturday of the late
Earl Dick.
