But how many shoppers know what it means? In the durable press process, finished garments are cured or baked into their final pressed shape, to which they will always return after laun- dering. AdVapP,V Want to see a sample of life in grandmother's (or even, great- grandmother's) day? You can by attending the Huron Country Playhouse production of Pink String and Sealing Wax playing this week, Wednesday through Sunday evenings. A thrilling mystery, it provides an evening of suspense en- tertainment suitable for the entire family. The tightly knit plot takes the audience back to the England of the 1880's where the story revolves around a family of young people, caught up with their own ambitions and aspirations, But they are held down by a domineering father, It is the determination on the part of the children that makes this a play of human sympathy and understanding with characters the audience feels they know. Suspense and mystery aside, the play is by no means without humour and not lacking in romance either. In short it has all the ingredients for an evening of absorbing and exciting en- tertainment, Constructing the sets for the Brighton scenes and the 1880's costumes is Playhouse designer Nicholas Ayre. In the director's chair this week is Tom Bentley-Fisher, who appeared in the last production, The Reluctant Debutante as David Hoylake-Johnston. Other popular players in leading roles are Joan Hanna, M.E. Evans, Jeanne Beauvais and newcomer Tom Alway. Tom has played with the Stratford Festival in Italian Straw Hat, Hadrian VII and There's One in Every Marriage. As well as appearing in the Canadian film Face-Off, he has played with the Globe Theatre in Regina and with Theatre London in their production of Cronyn. Joan Hanna, who has appeared in the two previous productions at the Playhouse, is superb in the role of Mrs. Strachan, the quiet mother caught between the desperate determination of her children and the iron will of her husband. The play also makes good use of the very proffessional talent that is offered by the apprentices. Allan Stratton, Liz Richardson, Kathleen Forget, Alexander Pierce and Laurel Darnell all capably handle their roles. For further information and ticket reservations phone the Playhouse at 238-8387.
