A
Lucan church news.
$t. James,
Sunday morning at St. James'
Church, Joan Cunningham
presided at the organ for the
service. At Holy Trinity Church
Lois Legg, Music /3aehelor, led
the choir, and presided at the
organ for the Service.
Rev, Robert Carson, tanned
from his month's holiday,
preached on the question 'Is your
God obsolete?' His text was from
Isaiah who spoke of man building
an idol and, falling down to
worship it. Ile said people today
do this. They limit God to their
imagination and wonder why God
doesn't stand up to the test of the
world around them.
Mr. Carson said "There is God,
and there is man's conception of
God." Man's narrow conception
of God makes God useless in an
age of scientific advancement
when in reality truth is God. So
Mr, Carson concluded that we
need to expand our horizons and
realize that God is for all people,
regardless of race, We need to
expand our community to make
God, the God of the universe.
Members of the United Church
are invited to fully participate in
the services with their Anglican
neighbors. Rev, R.A. Carson will
be in charge of the services.
The U.C.W. representative
pointed out that the "mini-
bazaar" will be held again this
Year, upstairs in the hall, and
that everyone is urged to com-
plete their articles in the next two
weeks and do as much baking as
they can for the home-bake table.
