Soccer clubs win two Tug-of-war at Lucan Fair
In regular Huron Minor Soccer
Association games played.
Saturday Exeter clubs won only
two of five games played.
In Atom action, the Exeter
knights edged Goderich A by a 5-4
score. Dave Shaw led the Knights
in the scoring department with a
hat trick performance, Single
goals were notched by Bruce
Shaw and Richard Helm,
Clinton blanked another Exeter
club 2-0 in a second atom contest,
The only other Exeter win was by
the squirts by way of the shut-out
route 4-0 over Seaforth,
In mosquito action it was
Goderich 8 Exeter 1 and the
Goderich pee woes blanked

hits and gained a total of nine
strikeouts. He fanned at least one
Wingham batter in every inning.
In addition to hits in the innings
Creditor' scored, Matt Muller and
Rodger Finkbeiner collected
doubles and Ron Anderson, Kevin
Bestard and Ron Bowers con-
tributed singles.
During the loss to Kincardine
Sunday, the Crediton team
scored single runs in the third,
fourth and ninth innings while
Kincardine got off to a good start
with three run rallies in each of
the first two innings.
In the third, Keith Davey
walked and scored on singles
from the bats of Kevin Bestard
and Mike Desjardine. Tom
Hay ter drew a free pass in the
next inning and crossed the plate
on Rodger Finkbeiner's single.
Kevin Bestard notched the final
Credi ton score in the ninth after
being hit by a pitch.
Larry Clarke was the starting
pitcher for Crediton with Rodger
Finkbeiner coming on in relief in
the seventh frame.

Tug-Of-war is becoming a
popular sport in this area and
another popular event will in-
clude a test of strength,
Clare Stanley, publicity
chairman of the Lucan Fair
scheduled for August 17,18 and 19
is lining up a tug-of-war contest
and is offering a cash prize of $25
to the winners.
The preliminary pulls will be at
5.30 p.m. on SaturdaY,. August 18
with the finals slated for 8 p.m.
Trophies donated by Molson's
will go to the champions and
runners-up. Entry fee is $10. The
contest is open to amateur teams
only and more information can be
obtained by calling 227-4881.
One team already entered is
the Lucan-Ilderton Jets.
