Art and craft exhibits
to feature GB show.
A former member of the
Exeter lawn bowling club and
now a resident of St. Thomas
came back to town Tuesday night
and took home first prize in the
regular jitney.
Howard Ince compiled two
victories, a plus of 13 and
aggregate of 25 to surpass all
other competition, Ray and
Danny Smith were deadlocked
for second spot each with a plus
of 12 and aggregate of 24 to go
with two wins. Kay Snelgrove
was fourth and Ivan Hill followed
in fifth position.
Saturday night a tie existed for
first place between Bob Elgie and
Len McKnight. Each came up
with a record of two wins, a plus
of 14 and aggregate of 27.
Cam Chapman placed third
with a plus of 14 and aggregate of
28 with double victories and
Charles Hendy was next in line
with two wins, a plus of 13 and
aggregate of 28.
Following in order in the list of
winners were Olive Hicks, Edith
Love and Earl Campbell.

family of the late Henry Kestle
gathered at Mic Mac Park in
West Windsor to celebrate Mrs.
Emily Kestle's birthday (84
years young) on Saturday.
Games were played and they
had a candy scramble, 5 and
under, Cindy Kestle, Melissa,
Wright; 5 to 10 Kevin Cun-
ningham, Larry Kestle;
wheelbarrow race, Bonnie and
Jenny Charron.
Water balloon,.Tom Kestle and
Lynn Ross: mens foot race, Mel
Kestle; door prizes Dave Hall,
Pat and Doug Cook, Helen and

A smorgasbord dinner was
served and Mrs. Kestle had

Clandeboye Girls lost their
game Wednesday against Poplar
Hill but came back Monday and
took a win.
The score was a close one 9 to 8
and it was a real good game,
Tuesday evening Clandeboye
girls clobbered Beechwood 43 - 8.

attend seminar
Two area officials recently
completed a course sponsored by
the Ontario Good Roads
Association and held at the
University of Guelph.
They were John Batten,
Usborne, road superintendent
and Exeter works superintendent
Glenn Kells.
The course was on "human
relations".
"Do you know how to handle
the boys when they get unruly?"
Reeve Derry Boyle asked Kells
when council learned he had
received his certificate this week.
"Yes," Kells replied. "And I
learned how to handle council
too," he quickly added with a
smile.

GRAND BEND
The second annual Ontario Arts
and Crafts exhibition and market
will be held next weekend, July 27
and 28th at Grand Bend St. John's
Anglican church.
The show, sponsored by the
Grand Bend Anglican church
women will feature exhibits from
local and area residents as well
as those from as far away as St,
Thomas and London.
In addition to the exhibits and
market, a home bake sale will be
held on Friday afternoon.
Among the exhibits to be on
display are leather crafts, hand
made candles, oil paintings,
pottery, ceramics, needle point,
bead work and a variety of other
interesting items.
Local residents participating in
the event will be IVIrs, Helen
Westwith a pottery display, Mrs.
Bryden Taylor and Mrs. Susie
Devine showing their bead work
and cathedral candles, Mrs.
Mable Gill and Nola Taylor will
exhibit an assortment of ceramic
products.
Mrs, Gill, who has been doing
ceramic work for about one year,
recently purchased an automatic
kiln, The oven, which is a part of
her extensive equipment for her
new hobby, is operated in her
basement workshop.
Using this equipment, she
hopes to run classes for local
residents in the afternoon and
evenings this coming fall,
Mrs, Gill began working with
ceramics last year at the Missing
Piece craft shop and has since
attended a seminar at Jamil's
ceramics in London. She recently
sent some of her work to be
exhibited at the Watford Cen-
tennial celebrations.

Bend old timer, passed away in
London late Thursday in her
nineties. We extend sympathy to
