IRVIN RADER DASH WOOD A service of thanksgiving and praise will be conducted, July 22, 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood, com- memorating the hundredth anniversary of the congregation. Preaching in this jubilee service will be the Rev. Ernst Mueller, a son of the congregation. Assisting in the liturgy will be the Rev. Dr. Frank Malinsky, honorary president of the Ontario District of the Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod. Following the morning service, a pot-luck luncheon and reunion will take place in the church basement, The day of celebration will conclude with a service of rededication conducted by Zion's present pastor, Rev. Frank Morgret, at 4:00 p.m. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church had its official birth one hundred years ago this summer when a group of Lutherans from the Friedsburg (Dashwood) area met on Saturday, August 10, 1973, and signed the first constitution of the congregation. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Knowles and family of London spent a couple of days holiday with Mr. & Mrs. Maurice MacDonald. Mrs. Pauline Hendrick of Toronto visited her parents Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Adams on Friday. Relatives, Mr. & Mrs. Emery Mason, Naicam, Sask., Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Berthold, Saskatoon and Lorne Archibald a grandson are staying till the end of the week at Arnold Mason's home in Grand Bend. Mr. & Mrs. Peter Deryk and family of London spent a short holiday with Mr. & Mrs. Maurice MacDonald. We are pleased to welcome for the summer season of Grand Bend's holiday resort the trailerites of Green Haven Trailer Park as follows: eluding the cemetery still used by the congregation. Information received by members of the congregation indicates that many former members of the congregation and friends plan to attend the celebration. Picnic Zion Lutheran Sunday School picnic was held July 15 at the Community Centre with about 100 in attendance. Mr. & Mrs, Delmar Miller and boys spent the weekend in Bruce County. Danny Weigand has returned home from South Huron hospital. Two very successful auction sales were held in Dashwood recently with Otto Willert buying the home of the late Mrs. Sylvia Wolfe and Lyle Steeper the home of the late Beatrice Graybiel, A surprise party was held at Exeter's Riverview park Sunday to honour Arthur Haugh on his 80th birthday. Relatives were in attendance from London, Detroit, Kitchener, Parkhill, Exeter, Crediton and Dashwood. Mrs, Hilton Ford and Vickie Miller returned Tuesday from a three week visit in Prince Albert and Neilberg, Saskatchewan. Showers Mrs. Rosaleen Schenk has been honored with two showers on her approaching marriage. Bernice Boyle, Gloria Hayter, and Nancy Becker were hostesses for the neighbors and Rosaleen received a pair of lamps. Mrs. Maxine Miller was hostess for a linen shower for the aunts, cousins, and neighbors on the 14th. Rosaleen thanked everyone. Games were enjoyed.
