Two skaters pass tests
Figure Skating Tests Tried
C.F.S.A. Figure Skating test
day was held in Tillsonburg on
Sunday, when Julie Mock,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Ron
Mock was successful in passing
her first figure and two
preliminary dances "The
Canasta Tango" and "The
Swing,"
Aileen Klungel, daughter of
Mr. & Mrs. Harry Klungel passed
her Dutch Waltz and preliminary
figures. Both girls are members
of the Zurich-Grand Bend Figure
Skating Club.
Observe Anniversary
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker were
hosts for the twentieth wedding
anniversary of their son and
daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs.
George Parker, held at their
home.
A smorgasbord supper was
served on the lawn. The table was
centred with an anniversary
cake. Inimediate relatives of the
family attended.
Bride-Elect Honored
The Sunday School room of
Chiselhurst United Church was
tastefully decorated with flowers
and streamers on Thursday
evening for a miscellaneous
shower in honor of Miss Patsy
Parker bride-elect of August.

Dog problem still evident
Dogs continue to be a problem
at Vanastra,
Kenneth Ziegler and Harvey
Hammond reported to Tucker-
smith Township council Tuesday
that several Vanastra residents
let their dogs loose at night to run
at large.
The animal control officer,
Gordon Dale, RR 4, Clinton, is to

The 34th annual Thomson
reunion was held at the home of
Bert and Audrey Vorstenbosch at
RR 1, Mitchell with 49 in at-
tendance,
After a delicious smorgasbord
dinner a short business meeting
was held with Hannah Miller as
President. It was decided to hold
next year's picnic in Hensall
Community Park the third
Sunday in July.
A new executive was chosen,
They are as follows: past
president, Hannah Miller;
president, Dorothy Chase; vice-
president, Norm Stanlake;
secretary, Mary Parsons; lunch
committee, Cecil and Joyce
Pepper, Lloyd and Helen
Thomson; sports committee, Bob
and Glenda Cornish.
A letter was read from Eleanor
Thompson from Winnipeg who
was unable to attend but sent
greetings to the clan.
A complete line of sports was
enjoyed under the leadership of
Lloyd and Helen Thompson.
Results are: races 4 and under,
Elizabeth Thompson, Tania
be notified. The men also ex-
pressed concern over heavy
trucks parked in the residental
area and also wrecked cars.
In reply to a letter from the
Ontario Municipal Board that it
will terminate the zoning bylaw
file by August 6 if no action is
taken by Tuckersmith, council
will report that the bylaw is

A candy and peanut scramble
was enjoyed by the children. It
was announced that there had
been three deaths and three
births since last years picnic.
Keyes-Parker Picnic
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Keyes and
Mr. & Mrs. Le Roy Keyes, Grand
Bend were hosts for the Keyes
and Parker family picnic on
Saturday evening.
Following a delicious supper
with fifty attending, sports were
enjoyed. Miss Patsy Parker,
bride-elect was the guest of
honor. She was presented with a
miscellaneous shower of gifts.

zoning bylaw for Vanastra
completed as soon as possible.
The previous zoning bylaw
proposal for the triangle covering
Vanastra and the farming area
from Clinton to Brucefield to
Egmondville to Clinton was
opposed as it was considered
restricted by several rural
residents.
Council signed a water
agreement with the Clinton
P.U.C, effective July 3, to supply
Vanastra with water at a cost of
40 cents per 1,000 metered gallons
of water.
The water will be carried in the
2.05 miles of pipe along Highway
4 previously used to carry water
to Vanastra when it was the
Canadian Forces Base.
Vanastra developments who
took over the base have paid for
the water from Clinton to June 30.
Council provisionally adopted
the Buchanan drain which they
considered at the meeting at-
tended by engineer Henry
Uderstadt of Orangeville who
answered questions on the drain,
There were no appeals against
the drain which is estimated to
cost $10,800.
The drain is composed of 5,410
lineal feet of open drain and 2,536
lineal feet of closed drain.Court of
Revision for it will be set for
August 7.
Court of Revision will also be
held on August 7 for the Brock
and Rehorst drains.
Request for building permits
were approved for: John Jan-
maat, Seaforth for a steel grain
bin; John Van Doornik, Seaforth,
silo; Darwin Bannerman,
Seaforth, new house; Bruce-
Coleman, .Seaforth, steel grain
bin; Wilfred Trerneer,
Egmondville, storage shed;
Grant Finnigan, Egmondville,
car port; Douglas Smale,
Seaforth, double wide mobile
home.
Council was notified by the
town of Clinton that it's
Agreement with the Clinton fire
area board, will terminate at the
end of 1973. A meeting has been
set for July 23 for Tuckersmith to
renegotiate as well as the
townships of Goderich, Stanley
and Huller.
Reeve Elgin Thompson and
councillor, Vince FoWlie will
represent Tuckersmith at the
meeting.

family are attending the Calgary
Stampede.
Mrs. Percy Wright, who un-
derwent surgery in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, has returned
home.
Mr. Elzar Mousseau is at
present in St. Joseph's Hospital,
Mr. Lou Kirk has sold his house
in Kippen,
Mr. & Mrs, W.L. Mellis and
Mrs. Margaret Barnard visited
friends in Wroxeter, recently.
Miss Jean Ivison spent a few
days, holidaying at Drysdale.
Miss Janice Moore Mitchell
spent a few days with Miss Lynn
Alderdice.

gave a humorous reading and
Miss Marilyn Brintnell played a

Mr. & Mrs. Howard Kerr
(Elaine Peck) and son Gordon of
Burlington visited with Mrs.
Grace Peck while in Hensall to
attend the funeral Thursday of
Elaine's mother Mrs. Janet
Peck.
Pauline and Troyann Bell,
Janet M. Peck
dies in hospital
Janet Maxwell Peck passed
away in Milton District Hospital
on July 10,1973.
She was the wife of the late
John Wilmer Peck, M.D.C.M.,
formerly of Hensall, mother of
Mrs. Howard (Elaine) Kerr,
Burlington and the late Ronald
Peck and sister of Margaret
Mealey, Vancouver.
The funeral was held from the
Bonthron Funeral Chapel,
Hensall, July 12, 1973 with Rev.
Don Beck officiating. Interment
was in the Bayfield Cemetery.
London spent the weekend with
their parents Mr. & Mrs. Stewart
Bell.
Rev. W.D. J4rvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
church on Sunday continuing his
sermon topics on "Great Per-
sonalities of the Old Testament -
the 2nd character David". Mrs.
Malcolm Dougall presided at the
organ.
Constable Douglas Wein,
R.C.M.P., Mrs. Wein and David
of Whitby spent last week with
Mrs. Wein's parents Mr. & Mrs.
Harold Parker and Patsy.
Mrs. Laird Mickle and Mrs.
Florence Joynt visited recently
with the former's daughter Mrs.
Ross McMillan and family at
Southcott Pines where they are
holidaying for the month of July.
