Ladies again dominated play
this week in three regular jitneys
of the Exeter lawn bowling club.
Thursday night, Gertrude
Hamilton emerged as the best
with a record of two wins, a plus
of 17 and 31 aggregate. Ivan Hill
and Elizabeth Lamport shared
second place with identical
scores of two victories, plus of 15
and 25 aggregate.
Lillian Pym placed fourth with
a plus of 11 and aggregate of 25 to
go with a double win while Kay
Snelgrove and Wilf Shapton
deadlocked for fifth position,
Saturday night it was Olive
Hicks coming up with the best
performance with two wins, a
plus of 20 and 39 aggregate. In
second spot came Stan Vernon on
two wins, a plus of 13 and
aggregate of 33.
Charlie Hendy was in third
place and Leona Brock was
fourth. They each had two vic-
tories and a plus of 12 but Hendy
had a better aggregate of 26
compared to Mrs. Brock's 25.
Following in the prize list were
Gertrude Hamilton, Lillian Pym
and Wellington Brock.
Elizabeth Lamport compiled a
record of an 18 plus and 39
aggregate to go with two wins to
lead the Tuesday night com-
petitors. In second spot came
Charlie Hendy with two wins, a
plus of 16 and aggregate of 34.
Alvin Pym was third with two
victories a plus of 14 and 34
aggregate. Following in order
were Willis Dorman, Glen
McKnight and Lila Smith.
Men organize
slow pitch loop
A slow pitch men's ball league
has been organized with teams
from Staffa, Chiselhurst,
Cromarty and Roys par-
ticipating.
The schedule for July is as
follows:
14 - Staffa at Chiselhurst
15 - Cromarty at Roys
22 Cromarty at Staffa
Roys at Chiselhurst
28 - Rays at Staffa

Family home from trip
Centralia lady dies at 83

Mrs, William Haddick, the
former Eliza Baynham a well
known village resident passed
away in South Huron Hospital on
July 4, 1973 in her 84th year.
She is survived by her husband,
William Haddick and several
nieces and nephews.
The deceased was a member of
Centralia United Church and
when health permitted took an
active part in church activities.
The funeral service was con-
ducted by the Rev. John Beaton
in the Hopper-Hockey Funeral
Home, Exeter Saturday with
interment in Grand Bend
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ken Greb,
Ken Hodgins, Wilfred Huxtable,
Stephen Molnar, John Thompson
and Fred Bowden.
Personals
Francis Kelly is a patient in
South Huron Hospital Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs, William Elliott and
family have returned home
following a motor trip. They
spent sometime at Kenora in the
Lake of the Woods before going to
Winnipeg. Among other places of
interest that they visited were
Thunder Bay and the Ouimet
Canyon.
Brenda Gaynor is holidaying at
the home of her aunt and uncle.

posts decisive victory

Mrs. A. Simpson suffered a set
back on Monday and will have to
remain in hospital.
Many Clandeboye and area
residents were in Exeter last
week and enjoyed both excellent
parades during centennial
celebrations. We commend the
committee's in charge for their
efforts. It was a good feeling to
see old friends and school mates.
The photos and displays were
excellent and brought back many
memories.
"Midnight Brad" came in for a
win at Windsor Raceway and
"JR." a Hodgins horse also ran in
Windsor Saturday.
Janis Kestle made the front
page in the Windsor Star last

motored to Toronto Airport

Richard's father home from a
three-week stay in Europe, He
was visiting relatives in Holland.
Orville Railings was able to be
home for the weekend but
returned for further tests to
University Hospital.
J. Robertson, cub master for
Lucan-Clandeboye cub pack left
Friday for a three day camp out
near Goderich. Boys attending
with him included Kevin Cun-
ningham, Scott Taylor and Dean
Scott, Andy and Archie assisted
their father with the boys.

misfortune to be struck in the
back with a flying rock from the
blade of a power lawn mower.
Her arm is now in a sling,
Jane Robertson has her hand
and wrist in bandages from a
sprain sustained when she fell
and rolled on it at the ball game

Clandeboye Girls were vice
torious again Monday when they
creamed Ilderton 42 to 29 at
Biddulph Central Diamond,
Anita Hodgins banged put
several home runs with bases
loaded Helen Simpson caught for
an excellent pitcher, Merna
Carter,
Brenda Scott played half time
on first and Jane Robertson
finished there. Joanne Latta
made some fast plays on second;
Debbie Lynn played third;
Bonnie Morgan stopped some
short ones , Cris Dixon in centre
field, Susan Hill and Anita
Hodgins fielded an excellent
game.

Last Thursday a great many
friends and relatives of Debbie
Millson, bride-elect, of July 28
gathered at the United Church.
Mrs. G. Lynn made the
presentation for the community,
a beige rocker and a cake keeper
Many other gifts were also
received. Helen Cunningham and
Rea Markus were in charge of the
week when she was seen standing
by Prince Philip while he was in
London.

The Hern family reunion was
held Sunday in Riverview Park,
Exeter. Following a picnic dinner
a short business meeting was
held.
It was decided to hold the next
picnic in 1975. Mr. & Mrs. Bev,
Skinner, Exeter will be in charge
of arrangements.
