Our community available for area organizations Section 7, Page 7 THE EXETER TIMES-ADVOCATE JUNE 2E, 1973 Part of the CHANGING SCENE . . . but SERVICE still prevails Perhaps through the years, one of Exeter's best known landmarks was the Cental Hotel. It was built in the early 1860's and served the needs of thousands of people throughout the many years, It was a haven for travellers, weary from their long and uncomfortable rides along dusty roads leading to Exeter. It was also a central point of local business, for it was here that the representatives of firms across the nation brought their wares to show local merchants. That changed in 1965 when the hotel was raz- ed to make way for a new building which became the home of Victoria & Grey Trust Com- pany, which is only 16 years younger than Ex- eter. But not everything changed. Victoria & Grey still stresses SERVICE, although of a slightly different nature than that provided in its predecessor. But there are still many similarities. We appreciate the fact that thousands of peo- ple have passed through our doors, looking to us for guidance in their financial matters . . . mak- ing wills . . . arranging mortgages . . . es- tablishing savings accounts . . . protecting their valuables in our safety deposit vault . . . arrang- ing their investments. Our community room, similar to the rooms in the hotel, are used by many groups in the com- munity to stage meetings and make plans which in recent years have played an important role in the life of the community which these people serve. We, at Victoria & Grey, look forward to con- tinuing these services into Exeter's second century and at this time pause to pay tribute to the many who have gone before us to make this community such a wonderful place to work, play and learn . . . and in which to do business.
