The annual flower service,
sponsored by the church school,
was held on June 3 this year in
conjunction with Dedication to
Mission Sunday. The printed
bulletin reflected the two themes,
The service began with a
processional of the church school
and the senior and junior choirs
singing led by Joan Lockyer with
her guitar. The Junior Choir sang
two numbers, under the direction
of Douglas Barr.
Sentence scriptures were read
by 12 members of the church
school.
In the Dedication to Mission,
which was led by Mrs. Wm.
Froats and the minister, various
groups reported on their mission
study and presented gifts of
money to Mrs, Clifford Culbert,
the treasurer of the Mission and
Service Fund.
For the Church School gift,
each pupil presented a pop can
containing money which had
been saved during the month of
May. The pop had been a gift of
the minister and the church
school. Mrs. James Mugford told
the story to the children, and the
service was in charge of the
church school superintendent,
Edward Melanson.
Flowers were secured and
arranged by Mrs. James
Mugford, Mrs. W.C. Tupling,
Mrs. Ron King and Lynn Emery.
Two birds were provided by Mrs.
Wm. Frost.
During the service the banns of
marriage were published for
Paul Melanson and Judith

Happy birthday to you - Happy
birthday to you - Happy birthday
540 - Happy birthday to you - and
indeed it was just that as many
comrades and their ladies from
throughout District A of the
Royal Canadian Legion con-
verged on Branch 540 to help the
Lucan Legion and the Ladies
Auxiliary celebrate their 20th
anniversary, Sunday.
One of the highlights of the
party was the cutting of the birth-
day cake by the charter president
of 540 Comrade Percy Vahey and
the charter president of the
Ladies Auxiliary Comrade
Gladys Reilly.
Another highlight was the
presentation of 20 year service
pins to a number of Auxiliary
women by the Provincial
President Ladies Auxiliary and
Comrade Reg. Lovell who was
Zone Commander at the time
Branch 540 received its charter
and it was he who made the
presentation and installed our
first Executive Committee.
Branch 540 takes this op-
portunity to extend grateful
thanks to all those who attended
thus making our party -an out-
standing success and a tip of
berets to those hard working
members of Branch 540 and the
Ladies Auxiliary, too numerous
to mention, who worked so
diligently planning the event in
its preparation, to its ultimate
success.
To the young lads and gals who
gave up their Sunday to assist us
in serving, all we can say is
'Bless them All'. For your in-
Church, and the preacher for the
day will be Rev. Dr. Graham
Tipple of Calvary United Church,
London. All former members and
friends are invited to attend on
this occasion. The service will be
at 11 a.m.
