Bouquets of lilacs and tulips set
the scene in Elimville United
Church when Ave Marie Elford
and James Dennis Murray ex-
changed wedding vows, May 26,
1973.
Rev. Barry Robinson con-
ducted the ceremony, with music
by Mrs. Philip Johns, RR 3,
Exeter and soloist Mrs. Lorne
Hera, RR 1, Woodham,
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a long
dress of white polyester crepe
with back button closing, empire
waistline and bishop sleeves. The
cathedral train and dress were
trimmed with dainty guipure
lace, The elbow length veil was
held with five white organdy
roses and the bridal bouquet was
a cascade of white mums and
yellow roses in green foliage.
Margaret Cornish, London was
the maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Mrs. Elaine Webber, Janet
Bray and Cheryl MacDonald,
niece of the groom was the
flowergirl.
Their dresses were styled alike
in blue polyester linen with
empire waists, stand-up neckline,
bishop sleeves and a self-tie back
sash.
The carried white baskets of
yellow daisies, white roses and
green ferns.
Bob Murray was the best man
and guests were ushered by Dick
Mills and Mike Elford.
Following a reception at Dash-
wood Community Centre, the
couple left for a wedding trip to
the Smoky Mountains, For
travelling the bride changed into
a two-piece floral print knit outfit
in shades of beige, brown and
orange with beige accessories.

and Mrs. Lorne Elford, RR 3,

A wedding took place at Grand
Bend Gospel Hall, June 2, when
Nancy Elaine Gratton became
the bride of Carl Ivan Hannigan.
Evangelist John Gray officiated.
One of Exeter's newest neigh-
bors is Bonnie Awde, who moved
to Exeter about a month ago from
St. Marys. Her husband
Raymond was transferred here
to take the position of assistant
manager of the Bank of Mon-
treal, They lived in St. Marys five
years before coming here and
hope to live here for at least that
long,
Mrs. Awde doesn't have much
trouble filling her time with three
small children to look after,
Laurie, 3 Raymond, 18 months
and a very recent addition to the
family, Linda, who is just three
weeks old.
Their home at 170 Carling
street is the first house the
Awde's have owned, so Mrs.
Awde is full of plans for
decorating the various rooms and
for finishing the basement.
The bride is daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lyman Gratton, Grand
Bend, and the groom is son of Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Hannigan
London.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a white
floor length gown of satin and
lace. The train extended from the
waist, and her veil fell from a
juliet cap. She carried a bouquet
of white lilies, and lily of the
valley.
The attendant was the bride's
sister-in-law, Mrs. Miriam
Gratton, as matron of honor. The
bridesmaids were the groom's
sister, Cindy Hannigan, Eleanor
Webb and Janice Clark, They
wore flowered floor length gowns
of pink and lilac, and carried
baskets of pink mums,
Carl Page was best man, and
the ushers were Hubert Gratton
brother of the bride, Ben Gar-
diner and Douglas Walker.
The wedding reception was
held in the Dashwood Community,
Centre, after which the bride and
groom left on a honeymoon to the
United States.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hannigan
will reside in London,
She likes antiques, but doesn't
have any in her home right now.
She said, however, that she
would like to get some.
Mrs. Awde's hobbies are
sewing, knitting and needlepoint.
She has made many of her own
clothes, and most of the clothes
for the baby.
Although she is not a licenced
hair dresser, she likes doing hair,
and would also like to start
braiding rugs.
She said she doesn't have many
interests outside her home, for
reasons of time, but en-
thusiastically supports her
husband's hobbies. He was a
member of the Kinsmen's Club in
St. Marys, was an avid curler and
likes bowling. Mr. Awde is also
an enthusiastic philatelist, or
stamp collector and has quite a
large collection of stamps, some
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Blan-
chard celebrated their 40th
wedding anniversary May 31.

dinner in London by their family.

parents with rings from the
family.

and Mrs. Robert Wade, Heather,
Robin and Lisa, Ancaster; Mr,
and Mrs. Donald Smart and
of them very rare.
Mrs, Awde hasn't met very
many people since coming to
Exeter, but says everyone seems
very friendly, She has already
met a few neighbors in Exeter.
She said that Exeter seems to
be a "very old-fashioned little
town" to her. One of the main
reasons, she said, was because of
the old churches.
"Everybody is so friendly,
though. I think we're really going
to like it here," she said.
Debbie, Grand Bend; Mr. and
Mrs, Floyd Blanchard, Julie,
Jeffrey and Karen, Kingston;
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Blanchard,
