Mr. Da. Valentine
Manager
The Royal, Bank of Gmnarla
Sudbury, Ontario
hear Mr, Valenti
At the outset, there were no large businesses in Canada and this
country has achieved its present atatua and life style because
of the success of independent businessmen. Nowhere is this more
true than in the Province. of Ontario.
The Royal Bank owes a great deal of its success to eupporting
independent businessmen and, growirg with them. It would appear
advisable at this time tO re-emphasize the importance of
supporting those who have the courage and. initiative to go into
business for themselves,
And there ars good. reasons. Firstly, there is a real need for
vigorous growth in this section of the economy and financing is
ono of the necessary ingredients. Secondly, bank financing is
one of the few avenues open to the independent operator in his
desire to develop his business.
Therefore, I would like to stress that The Royal Bank policy is
to give special consideration to applications for loans from
smaller, independent businessmen. To make this happen I am asking
you to brimg your maximum energy and imagination to bear in
encouraging such applications. If we are able to help independent
businessmen, then in the long ran we will be helping ourselves and
Canada.
Sincerely youre,
Here's an important letter we've
sent to all our branch managers.
