The roll call was answered with "Your Grandmothers occupation". Janis Bisback gave a report on the short course "Choosing and using Fabrics" held in the Legion Hall recently, Joyce Pepper also gave a report on the 4-H Achievement Day held in the Stephen Central School, It was decided to ask the 4-H girls, their mothers and leaders UC women continue studies from India BROWNIES FLY-UP - During a recent ceremony, seven members of the Hensall Brownies participated in a fly-up. Brownies fly-up Unit IV Unit IV of Hensall U.C.W. met with Unit I on Thursday at the church. Mrs. Howard Scane presided and gave an inspiring devotional on the theme "Live one day at a time". Hymns were sung with Mrs. J.C. Goddard accompanying. Articles she had made were passed around for everyone to see. Edna Stoneman introduced the guest speaker, Joe Wooden, principal of South Huron District High School. He showed slides on the St. Joseph area and talked on some of the history of our area, the history of St, Joseph , and Narcisse M. Cantin's dream of making St. Joseph a booming town. Prizes were presented to grandmothers: birthday in May, Grace Peck; lives farthest away, Mrs. Spaulding, Anna Maria, Florida; youngest child, Winnie Skea; most buttons, Hilda Payne; biggest purse, Myrtle Orr; hostesses were Winnie Skea and Susan Purdy. A resume `Christian-home' sermon subject Hensall United Church was filled Sunday morning for the Christian family service and infant baptism. Rev, Don Beck chose to preach on the sermon topic "What makes a Christian home?" and the choir sangan anthem with Harry Horton taking a solo part. Daniel Peter, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McNaughton was presented for baptism at Hensall Church; and Christopher Derek Sararas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Sararas was presented for baptism at the Chiselhurst United Church morning service. Mrs. Shirray com- mentated on "New horizons for India's women", During the business portion of the meeting, plans were finalized for Unit IV's part in the beef barbecue May 30. It was decided to entertain the "home helpers" in September and the flower committee for June was named, Unit II The May meeting of the Unit II of Hensall U.C.W. was held Monday evening at the church. Shirley McAllister presided and opened with a prayer by Michael Quoist. Helen Drysdale gave an inspiring devotion on planting seeds of friendship, love, study and good health habits. Plant the seeds with care, as you plant so will the harvest be. Hymns were sung with Pearl Passmore accompanying at the piano. Scripture was read followed by a hymn. The roll call was answered by 18 members and two guests with a Bible verse with the word "Bless" in it. A film strip shown by Will Beck entitled "The Beloved Surgeon" showed a remarkable new process to repair the hands of lepers in India and the work of Dr. Brand at the House of New Life; a Clinic which teaches lepers to earn a living using their reconstructed hands. The business pOrtion of the meeting was conducted by Mona Alderdice, with plans being finalized for the Beef Barbeque May 30. Helen continued the devotion on "How to spend your leisure hours" stating that in the near future man will be working 22 hours a week, allowing ample time for leisure. Donna Forrest gave a very interesting talk and displayed many articles made from scraps, old bottles, paper and ribbon - a craft which she teaches to senior citizens at Cedar Glen Camp near Toronto, Macrame, raffia, plastic flowers and weaving are also taught. Susan Dignan conducted contests after which she read an address to Sandra and Vicky and Kelley Schroeder presented the bride-elect with gifts in a decorated wagon. Mrs. Ed. Schroeder mother of the bride-elect and Mrs. Harry Hoy assisted in opening the gifts. Present baby for baptism Rev. Wilfred Jarvis conducted baptism service in Carmel Presbyterian Church when Mr. & Mrs, H. Judge, London (nee Catharine MacGregor) presented their daughter Heather Victoria for baptism, Rev.
