ART ON DISPLAY - This early American style painting would do much to .enhance any hospital or nursing
home room. It is part of a collection of paintings and silk screens which were completed this winter under an
LIP grant. They are to be distributed to county hospitals and nursing homes. This one is being displayed by

A Local Initiative Program
operating out of Goderich, "Art
for Huron hospitals and nursing
homes" is just a few weeks away
from completion and Tuesday,
some of the paintings completed
under the program were
displayed for the South Huron
Hospital Auxiliary.
A group headed by J.A. Marlatt
and Mr. Niblock received a
$10,000 LIP grant to produce art
for area hospitals and nursing
homes. Their total output, when
completed, will be 30 paintings
and 100 silk screen prints in five
different designs.
Many of the works are on local
themes, such as the Van Egmond
home at Egmondville and
Seaforth Hospital.
The pictures will be then
distributed to area institutions,
free of charge. Because the
original request for a $12,000
grant was reduced to $10,000
however, money. was not
available to frame the pictures.
Mr. Marlatt expressed the hope
that each auxiliary will un-
dertake to finance the cost of
framing the pictures they
receive.
South Huron Hospital is likely
to receive two of the works of art.
