Due to the practice of persons improperly dumping
garbage and setting fires, Exeter council has authorized
that the dump in Hay Township will be open from 9:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m, from Monday through Friday only.
The dump gate will be locked at all other times and
any trespassers will be prosecuted under the terms of the
bylaw covering the operation of the dump. Persons con-
victed of contravening the bylaw are liable, upon convic-
tion, to fines up to $300.
This action is made necessary through stringent rules
of the Ministry of the Environment. Failure to comply with
the regulations of the Ministry may result in the dump be-
ing closed for ALL purposes and the alterative will be ex-
tremely costly for local ratepayers.
Ratepayers are reminded that Exeter provides weekly
pickup of household garbage. Other garden refuse and
larger items are picked up once every month with pickup
on the first Thursday of each month on the west side of
town and the second Thursday of each month on the east
side.
This should serve the needs of all domestic customers.
It is hoped the ratepayers of Exeter will realize the im-
portance of cooperating in this regard to ensure that
economical waste disposal can be maintained,
