The Exeter Bowling Lanes
rocked with excitement Monday
night as the first perfect game
was rolled in the history of the
building.
Bill Farquhar spilled the pins
for strikes on twelve consecutive
deliveries to put together 'a
perfect score of 450,
Farquhar with his tremendous
performance led the Rockets to
the 'A' league playoff cham-
pionship. They also won the
regular season title.
On several occasions during
the past few years, perfect scores
came close to being realized.
Bill Wright held the previous
single game score of 440, Don
Gravett and Stan Frayne each
rolled 435 and the same Bill
Farquhar had a score of 416.
Asked if pressure bothered him
when he realized a perfect game
was possible, Farquhar replied,
"Up until the eighth or ninth
frame it didn't affect me,
because I was intent on our team
winning the game."
"The first strike in the tenth
frame is always the key throw.
Once I had that the pressure was
off," continued the ardent young
bowler.
Over the years, a prize of $100
has been offered by owners of the
Exeter Lanes to anyone throwing
a perfect 450 game.
Shortly after the excitement
and congratulations from
everyone in the alley, Bill
Farquhar was the proud owner of.
a $100 bill, from his father Aub,
owner of the local alley.

suitable' opposition in a league closer to home.
'At Monday's meeting, officials of the league diieussed
the postibility of bringing minor baseball back under the
banner of the Huron-Perth,
We feel thiS would be a good move. At present area

Association championship before being eligible for Ontario

We .feel this would be a good move. At present area

Association championship before being eligible for Ontario
Baseball Assocfation play.
With a Huron-Perth minor league and only district
teams involved, champions in each category could go direct-
ly into OBA playoffs.
- Getting back.to actual business on the playing field, the
Exeter Expos held their first practice Monday night with
about 10 players in attendance but they have scheduled a full
workout for tonight, Thursday.
Aby players in the area wishing to try out with the Ex-
pos' will be more than welcome. Manager Lorne Haugh and
his cohorts Jim Hewitt and Jim Pfaff are looking for
another top flight pitcher or two to help out.
Joining together
In minor ranks, the villages of Crediton and Dashwood
are 'joining together to form a couple of baseball teams.
While each village will field their own pee wee and tyke
teams, the bantam and midget clubs will be combined.
The midget team will be called Crediton-Dashwood and
based in Crediton while the bantams will be reversed, play-
ing% horhe games in Dashwood and will be known as the
DashwoOd-Crediton bantams.
Coach Harold Borden is trying to get his Crediton-
Dashwood midgets off to a flying start. With wet grounds
forcing.ancellation of scheduled practices, Borden took his
young charges to a batting range in London to get some
swinging practice.
.. • Trade winds are blowing

winds were blowing between the Dashwood Tigers and Ex-

?Thinking about this proposed swapping, we wonder if
everybody would keep their end of the bargain. The recent
trade between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs
makes us wonder what could happen in the local situation.
The Leafs at the present time are not sure what they are
getting from Boston and the Bruins on the other hand, don't
have what they had.
!To the managers of the two teams, maybe you should
get Allan Eagleson to help out at the bargaining table.
Chipper on television
It was very interesting to watch the Weekend television
show a couple of Sunday nights ago and see Hensall native
Jack Chipchase featured on part of the program.
'Jack who starred with the strong Toronto Marlboros
club of 1964 has been struggling through the minor leagues
ever since.
. While Jack has been a solid hockey player and popular
Wherever he went, but.never seemed to get the right break
to make the 'National hockey league.
; On several occasions he was switched from team to
team after being on the roster for only a day or two. At
Omaha he was named the club's most popular player and
twice at Roanoke he was chosen the team's most in-
spirational member,
.With further expansion and the continuance of the World
Hockey Association, Jack still has a chance to break into the
tOp flight of hockey, He finished this season with the
Roanoke Valley Rebels of the Eastern league. The Rebels
areta farm atib of the'Philadelphia Blazers of the W.H.A.
Since -1965, Jack has been with Tulsa, Omaha,
Rochester, Memphis, Winston-Salem and Roanake Valley.
He *actually started his pro hockey career with Victoria, was
then loaned to Vancouver and after only two weeks, coach
Bert Olmstead sent him to Omaha.
`'Everybody was there
, When thetkoston Bruins had their 1972-73 season
farewell paetty%afew weeks ago, they expected everybody to
sliOw up. . 6
When the party started, Phil Esposito was missing
beCause he was in Massachusetts General hospital recover-
ing from a knee ligament operation.
.. His team-mates didn't consider this was a valid excuse.
Several of the Bruins left the party which was just around
the corner from the hospital and carried Esposito, casts and
all to the affair. •
