Mr. & Mrs. Grant Brown of Sarnia accompanied by Mrs. Brown's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Smith, Saskatchewan, Mr, & Mrs. Reid Brown, Roxanne and Rosemary, Lambeth were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Thompson. Elaine Powe, St. Catharines spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Powe. read, from the Leprosy Mission for used stamps, and from Mrs. Calder McKaig. For the topic, Mrs. Norman Harburn read a story. The pianist, Mrs. Duncan Scott, played an instrumental. The study book, "Too Many Mouths to Feed," was presented by Mrs. Beverly Taylor and Mrs. John Templeman. Topics included agriculture, birth control, and industry. Harburn and Mrs. Bert Daynard were hostesses for the annual meeting of the Staffa Women's Institute held in the township hall on April 18, The president Mrs. John Miller presided and opened the meeting. Roll call was answered by nine members with the payment of fees for the coming year. Members were reminded of the District Annual to be held in Mitchell May 15. Delegates to the annual are Mrs. E. Chappel, Mrs. J. Miller and Mrs. C. Douglas. A donation was made to Bunny Bundle. A letter of appreciation for the five crib quilts received was read from War Memorial Hospital. By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE A party for Shirley-Ann Adelung of Edmonton, Alberta and Dennis Cann of Penawa, Manitoba was held in honor of their forthcoming marriage on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert. A humorous mock wedding then took place. Mrs. Chester Merkley read the address and Brenda Hodgert and Cathy Miller presented the bride and groom to be with many gifts. The president gave her summary of the past year thanking all who contributed in anyway. Knitwits The eighth meeting of the Staffa Knitwits, was held Monday morning at the home of Mrs, William Butson. The roll call, "name the techniques used in your garment" was answered by all girls. Mrs. Jeffery told us the requirements for record books and types of pictures to include in them. Mrs. Butson then discussed how to evaluate the garments. Mrs. Jeffery, aided by some members, evaluated some of the completed outfits. For the duration of the meeting, the girls practiced modeling. Huron MP Robert McKinley advised Exeter council this week he had investigated the matter on behalf of Bluewa ter Cable TV and had learned that no date has yet been set for the hearing of their application. Several council members groaned audibly when McKinley's letter sai4. he was "not hopeful for a hearing date before September". A pat on the hack, though only a few vertebrae removed from a kick in the pants, is miles ahead in results. By MRS. ROBERT LAING Mrs. John Miller presided for the Easter meeting of the Marian Ritchie Evening Auxiliary. Following the call to worship, a hymn was sung. While in Arizona she was a guest with her sister-in- law, Miss Helen Hicks. Easter Service Communion was observed at the Easter service in the United Church on Sunday morning with a large congregation in at- tendance. Rev. Beaton delivered a fine Easter message and the choir sang two anthems. The offertory music was an organ and piano duet by Mrs. Hodgins and Marikay. Easter lilies and other flowering plants decorated the church. Persona Is The "Luncheon is Served" supper, sponsored by the U.C.W. in the schoolroom of the church on Wednesday evening of last week was attended by about 100 people. Mrs. Turner was the hostess. Marie Powe, bride-elect, was guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower in the schoolroom of the United Church Thursday evening. Mrs. Chas. Rowe of Windsor was an Easter weekend visitor with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Essery. W.M.S. A delicious pot-luck dinner preceded the Easter Thankof- fering meeting of Cromarty Women's Missionary Society which was held on Good Friday afternoon. The president, Mrs. M. Lamond welcomed the guests and presided for the worship service which was taken from the Glad Tidings. Scriptures were read by Mrs. S. McCurdy and Mrs. James Miller with meditations being given by Mrs. John Jefferson and Mrs. Russell Scott. Scripture verses were read in unison as was the prayer. Bonnie Norris received the offering which was dedicated by Mrs. Lamond. Three Explorers, Bonnie Norris, Andrew and Murray Laing, assisted by Margaret Laing, presented a number from the Explorers' Prayer Service. Andrew and Margaret Laing played a guitar and accordion duet with the latter also playing an accordion solo. The roll call was Rejoice. Mrs. Charles Douglas gave a reading and the Sari Dance was learned with Mrs. J. Miller, Mrs, C. Douglas, Mrs. R. Laing, Mrs. L. Gardiner, Margaret and Murray Laing and Bonnie Norris taking part.
