normally collected on regular pick up,

The Independent Order of
Oddfellows from Granton and
Lucan Lodge held a joint in-
stallation in the Lucan lodge
rooms on April 3.
Six new candidates were
initiated to the fellowship by the
installing team from the Monkton
Lodge: Stewart Cassils, Terry
Wade, Larry Lewis, Philip Lewis,
Doug Heywood, andBob Hickson.
There were 53 members, from
New Hamburg, Stratford, St.
Marys, Monkton, Granton and
Lucan to watch the colorful

Westelaken; vice president,
Marilyn Groenewegen; secretary
treasurer, Janis Kestle; press
reporter, Maria Richards. They
chose the name Happy Hoeers.
Club 3 held their first meeting
at the home of their leader, Mrs.
Cinth Vogels, assisted by Kathy
Dejong. President elected was
Annie De Weerd; secretary,
Karen Dejong; press reporter,
Dianne Lynn.

the girls the requirements for
planting a vegetable garden:

They must plant 10 vegetables
and four flowers (annuals),

The last euchre party of the
season was held Wednesday night
at Shipka Community Centre,
Winners were: ladies high, Mrs.
Cliff Kenny; ladies low, Mrs.
Velma Russell; mens high, Hugh
Morenz; mens low, K. Russell;
most lone hands, Fred Gibson.
Tickets sold on a dressed
chicken was won by Cliff Kenny.
It was announced that the
shareholders of the school would
hold their annual meeting April
18.

The girls team from South
Huron District high school
finished second in the Huron-
Perth gymnastic meet held at
Stratford Northwestern, Thur-
sday.
South Huron gained a total of
117 points while the champions
from Stratford Central amassed
224 points.
Two South Huron competitors
won individual championships.
Gail Ecker won in the novice
category and Rita Reynolds was
named elite champion.
In the novice section, Janet
Gielen was first on the uneven
bars, Jane Van Roestel was the
trampoline winner and Cathy
Easton was best in floor exer-
cises.
Connie Miners won in-
termediate floor exercise
honours and Rita Reynolds was
the elite trampoline winner.
Second place finishes in
various events went to Agnes Van
Esbroeck, Cathy Parsons, Gail
Ecker and Laura Johns. Placing
third were Gail Ecker and
Monica Eveleigh.
The novice division is open to
all first year competitors and the
intermediate category is for
those competing in any previous
inter-school meets,
The advanced section is open to
the first three finishers in an
intermediate class and the elite
category is for the first three
place finishers in advanced
classes.

The Directors, Mrs, Ralph
Weber, Mrs. Mildred Keller man,
and Mrs. Earl Guenther, were in
charge of the annual meeting of
Dashwood W.I, and they also
formed the nominating com-
mittee,
Mrs, Gordon Bender,
president, presided for the
business. The Red Cross canvass
netted $154.45. Desired short
courses were decided. Mrs.
Rosaleen Schenk reported on the
Director's meeting, The District
Annual is May 16 at the
Presbyterian church, Exeter.
Mrs. Schenk will attend the
Officer's Conference May 13 at
Waterloo University.
Roll Call was answered by
paying dues, One new member
joined. It was decided to continue
sponsoring a child in India.
Reports were heard from all
conveners, president and
secretary. Two members had a
perfect • attendance. Mrs. Letta
Taylor donated tea towels to the
Institute.
Mrs. Sid Baker was in charge
of the election of officers with
Mrs. Ralph Weber giving the
report of the nominating com-
mittee. Officers are: past
president, Mrs. Howard Maier;
president, Mrs. Gordon Bender;
vice-presidents, Mrs. Ray Rader
and Mrs. Earl Keller; secretary-
treasurer, Mrs. Rosaleen
Schenk; assistant, Mrs. Eben
Weigand; District Director, Mrs,
Glen Webb; alernate, Mrs. Sid
Baker; resolutions, Mrs. Hilda

4-H Meeting
Club No. 1 girls held their
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Gordon Bender. The exhibit is
"Knacks with Necklines". Roll
call was ideas for the fashion
show followed by discussion,
The garments should be on a
hanger with plastic cover. Also
name, age, and club must be on
garment. The mother's buffet
supper will he April 17.
