MacDONALD- In loving memory of
a dear brother and uncle, Donald
Evans, who passed away 9 years ago,
April 12, 1964.
Another day, another year
A loving thought a silent tear
Gone are the days we used to share
But in our hearts he's always there
The gates of memory will never close
We miss him more than anyone knows,
Lovingly remembered and sadly
missed by sister Mary, nieces and
nephews, Bev and Gord, Penny and
Don, and families. 15p

For the son I lost and loved so dear
Others are taken, Yes I know
But he was mine and I loved him so.
Sadly missed by Mom. 15p

effort to bring down the cost of
meat by supporting last week's
boycott, they are in for a sad
surprise. There were not only no
signs of the boycott in this
district, but meat sales actually
went up in two of the stores
oiled,
"It's hard to tell why, but meat
sales went up last week," said
Jim Darling from Darling's IGA
in Exeter, He added that he
thought beef sold better than any
other kind of meat.
He said he didn't think that a
boycott, even on wide-scale
terms, would be beneficial at all.
"The farmers know what's going
on," he said. "If people stop
buying meat, they (farmers)
won't send their cattle to market.
If they held out, even for two
weeks, prices would go sky-high
and everybody would be in
trouble."
Howard Holtzmann from
Exeter's A & H Food Market
agreed. He said that in order to
affect the retailer, at least 59
percent of the town's people
would have to stop buying meat

As it is new, beef is sometimes

Ross Veal from Al's Supersave
Market in Hensel' said they
experienced an increase in meat
volume last week, But he at-
tributed it, at least in part, to the
fact that two other major stores
in that village had sales, drawing
more potential buyers to Hensall.
"People talked a lot about the

system extended 500 feet into the
township east of the village limits
on highway 84.
A tender from Russell Fisher
was accepted for the supply and
application of 20,000 cubic yards
of sand cushion at 61 cents per
cubic yard. This is to be applied
on the second concession, two and
one half miles north of highway
83.
A second tender was accepted
from Alvin Litt Excavating Ltd.
for the construction of the
Mousseau drain at a cost of
$3,163. A bid of $7,200 was ac-
cepted from R. Nicholson Con-
struction for the construction of
the east branch of Black Creek
drain.

expenditure for the construction
and maintenance of roads for
1973, and it is to be submitted to
the Ministry of Transportation
and Communication for ap-
proval. The proposed con-
struction cost if $34,200 with
subsidy on construction of
$18,000. Proposed maintenance
cost is $99,200 with subsidy
amounting to $50,000.
Council received two tile drain
loan applications for a total of
$11,200 and a petition from the
ratepayers of the police village of

provements on the Ellen St,
drain. C. P. Corbett, Lucan was

Dear Grandpa,
So 'many times I think of you,
When I am all alone,
I have so many memories
Of you that are my own.
As a small girl I remember
To me you were so dear,
And this dearness seemed to grow
With every passing year.
To me you were someone special
Someone set apart.
I always did, and always will,
Hold you close to my heart,
My heart still aches with sadness,
My secret tears still flow
Grandpa, I loved you so dearly
No one could ever know.
Somewhere I know you are listening
In God's beautiful garden above
I know someday I'll join you
Till then I'm sending my love.
All my love,
