Loveless scored for the Jets to tie
the score and set the stage for
Pinnegar's winning shot,
Second period spurt
Friday night at Ilderton, the
first period of the game was close
with the Jets holding a slim 2-1
margin. But, the second period
was a different story.
The Jets scored no less than
eight times in the middle frame
to break the game wide open and

Rinks skipped by Marg Murley
and Dorothy Prout will meet to
decide the third draw cham-
pionship of the Exeter ladies
curling club.
The Murley rink composed of
Lorna Russell, Shirley Finnen
and Jean Snell won the Tuesday
division and defeated Thursday's
winner Win Marshall in the semi-
finals. The Prout foursome made
up of Helen Webber, Betty Coates
and Pat Cottrell won the Wed-
nesday section.
Other members of the Marshall
rink were Ruth Skinner, Pearl
Budden and Hazel Westcott.
Runners-up in the three divisions
were rinks skipped by Doris
Hackney, Shirley Mousseau and
Helen Burton,

Squeeze out win
Sunday night, the Jets scored
four times in the third period to
gain the 6-5 decision over Both-
well. A 20-foot slap shot from the
stick of defenceman Jim Pin-
negar at 18.27 of the third period
produced the win, Assists went to
Jamie Robb and Steve Proctor.

Don TaylorMotors and Cowan's
B.P. played a very close game
with the final score ending in a
tie, David Bell was top scorer for
B.P. with four goals to his credit
and Rick Lindenfieldscored a hat
trick". For Taylor's Wayne
Parsons scored five goals with
single goals by Donny Beaver
and David Bell.
In the second novice game
Conklin Lumber and Lankamp's
Esso played through 50 minutes
of hockey unable to score at
either end. Both goalies Steven
Wells and Doug Hoffman came
up with some great saves. With
only a few minutes left in the
game Doug Fletcher was able to
put one past Hoffman to win the
game 1 to 0 for Conklin.

There will be no Pee Wee or
Bantam hockey this Sat. Due to
the small number of players
turning out the last two weeks it
was decided to discontinue the
hockey, So for the next two
Saturdays we will be holding
public skating from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Jr. Hawks were
eliminated by Mitchell Hawks in
the seventh and final game of the
series. On behalf of the players,
Coach and Exeter Minor Hockey
Association I would like to thank
all the fans for the support given
the team this year. We had a
successful year and will be back
with another good team next
year.
The Exeter pee wees are in the
midst of a best-of-five series with
Petrolia pee wees. The Exeter
team has won the first two games
with the third game at Petrolia on
Wednesday. If a fourth game is
necessary it will be played here
on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Lucan-Ilderton Jets hold a
font- game to one lead over the
Bothwell Barons in the Ontario
Hockey Association Senior "B"
group semi-final series.
After the Jets won the first two
games of the series, the Barons
came back with a 6-2 win on home
ice Wednesday night. Back to the
Ilderton arena for the next two
games it was a different story
with the Jets winning 13-2 Friday
night and 6-5, Sunday,
The fifth game was played in
Bothwell last night, Wednesday
with a sixth if necessary back in
Ilderton Sunday afternoon at two
o'clock,

Good performance
The Barons turned in a good
solid team effort on their home
ice Wednesday night as they
defeated the Jets 6-2.
Brian Hind took care of the Jets
in a scoring way all by himself
with a four goal performance.
The other Bothwell goals were
notched by Kent Byrnes and
Gary Chinnick.
Tom Hodgins registered for the
Jets in the First period on passes
from Dick Doughty and Barry
Baynham and the other goal was
shot by Steve Proctor in the
second period. Assists went to
Jim Pinnegar and Baynharn.
If you drive a station wagon
with the rear window open, ex-
haust fumes may be sucked in.
Be sure to keep a front window
open, too.

The Zurich Flyers and Shipka
Saints are all tied up at two
games apiece in a best-of-seven
series to decide the grand
championship of the South Huron
Intermediate hockey league.
After Zurich took the opening
game, Shipka came back to
record a resounding 8-1 win
Friday night and squeeze out a 7-
5 overtime win, Sunday, Tuesday
night it was the Flyers turn to win
as they took a 7-4 decision to
square the series.
The fifth game will be played
Friday night at 8.30, the sixth
Sunday afternoon at two o'clock
and if a seventh game is
necessary it will be played
Tuesday night at 8.30. All games
are at the Zurich arena.
John McKinley scored three
goals to lead the Zurich win,
Tuesday night. Glenn Overholt
checked in with a pair of scores
while single goals were
registered by Ron Desjardine
and George Suplat.
Dennis Morrissey with a two
goal effort was best for the
Shipka Saints. Adding single

end of regulation time, George
Suplat put the Flyers ahead 5-4
for a short time. Dennis
Morrissey quickly tied the score
for Shipka and Bill Hoffman
netted the winner. Before the ten
minute session ended, Larry
Laye found the range to give his
club the insurance goal.
Morrissey notched two other
goals in addition to his overtime
score. Bill Bowden also scored
twice,

The Exeter figure skating club
held the final Canadian Figure
Skating Association test day
Monday at the local arena.
Skaters from the Huron Park and
Exeter clubs participated and
