Miss Robinson just returned to Canada in December from the Sudan, where shehas worked for the Church of the Sudan for 20 months, There she was ministering to the victims of a war which ravaged that country for about 16 years. Shortly before she came home, a treaty was signed between the north and south ending the war which forced thousands of Christians to flee their homes and villages to live in the bush in the south. Many more chose to leave the country. The conflict had religious undercurrents, The northerners, who ruled the Sudan, were predominately Arab Moslems, while the southern rebels who were fighting northern domination, were primarily black Christians or adherents of traditional African religions. It has been estimated that over a million people died from the war or from starvation brought about by the fighting. Based in Uganda, Miss Robinson worked out of Mbale, Uganda, and was involved in pre- ordination training of Sudanese students. These men, varying in ages from 35 to 60, had years of experience in pastoral work but limited theological training. They crossed the border during the Sudanese war and after three months training in a variety of subjects returned to work in the bush with other Sudanese. Miss Robinson had many years of experience which prepared the way for her work in Uganda. Her career began in Canada where she completed some 20 years of service with the church in the north. During the late 1930's and into the forties she taught at residential schools in Moose Factory and Aklavik. At the request of the Bishop of the Arctic Dorothy opened the first day school for Eskimo children at Tuktoyaktuk in 1947. She remained there as a teacher until the end of 1964 and later as a religious education instructor at Exeter Arena Activities EXETER PENTECOSTAL TABERNACLE MAIN. AT VICTORIA Rev.
