The Lucan-Ilderton Jets ex-
perienced little trouble in win-
ning the first game of the Ontario
Hockey Association Senior "B"
semi-finals at the Ilderton arena,
Sunday afternoon,
The Jets scored five times in
the second period on the way to a
9-3 victory over the Bothwell
Barons, The second game was
played in Bothwell last night
Wednesday and the third will also
be in Bothwell Sunday afternoon,
The teams then return to
Ilderton for the fourth and fifth
games scheduled for Friday
March 23 at 8.30 p.m. and Sun-
day, March 25 at 7.30 p.m, The
series is a best-of-nine affair,

the Jets got off to a slow start as
they were able to notch only a
single goal in the first twenty
Minutes of play. Jacques
Cousineau registered on an
unassisted effort with the game
only 18 seconds old.
It took less than a minute again
in the middle session to produce a
goal. Dave Revington com-
pleted a three-way effort with
Pete Loveless and Don Urbshott.
Then in quick sucession
Loveless scored two goals and
Steve Proctor and Jamie Robb
added one apiece, , The first
Loveless score came as he took a
rink-wide pass from Barry
Baynham and the second with
help from Jack Nairn with the
Bothwell goalie down and out of
the play.
Proctor tallied on a slap shot
from the left paint with assists
going to Terry Bourne and Tom
Hodgins and Jamie Robb scored
as Bill Fairbairn dug a loose puck
out of the corner,
Gary Chinnick put the Barons
on the scoreboard for the first
time with a successful slap shot
Pre-game festivities at the
Exeter arena Saturday af-
ternoon took on an International
flavour as the two teams traded
mementoes before the first puck
was dropped.
No, it was not a World cham-
pionship game between Canada
and Russia, but an exhibition
mite hockey game between the
Exeter Waxers and their mite
counterparts from Trenton,
Michigan.
The hockey youngsters from
Trenton presented plaques and
pucks to the Exeter boys and in
return received plaques and
pennants for remembrances of
their two-day stay in Exeter,
Exeter's Mayor Jack
Delbridge was also on hand to
drop the first puck and officially
start the return visit to Exeter.
The Exeter mites and novice
teams were in Trenton a week

in Shamrock playoffs
In a hard hitting Shamrock
league pee wee playoff game
Wednesday night, St. Thomas
edged
Each
by a score of 3-1.
Each team scored one goal in
the first period and St, Thomas
notched a pair of unanswered
goals in the third period to take
home the victory.
Before four minutes had
elapsed in the first period, Jamie
Hennessey put St. Thomas out in
front but it took the locals only a
minute to get back on even terms,
Randy Fisher was the suc-
cessful Exeter marksman with
the assist going to Brian Mercer.
Chris Murray scored both St.
Thomas third period goals.
Lead increases
With six weeks of competition
left in the regular schedule of the
Exeter Legion mixed dart
league, the Sharpshooters have
upped their point total to 74 and
an eight point bulge over the
runner-up Dart Sharks

In the third period, the Jets
scored three times before Ab
Smith and Chinnick replied for
Bothwell late in the game.
Bill Fairbairn scored from
Jamie Robb and Jacques
Cousineau, Dave Revington
deflected in a pass from Jack
Nairn and Cousineau took a pass
from Robb as the pair broke in on
a two-on-one break.
Rodeo champion
The Ontario Rodeo Association
held their Annual banquet at the
Holiday Inn, liespeler, Saturday.
Barry Mousseau of Hensall was
honored as Saddle Brom champ
for the third year in a row and All
Around Cowboy for Ontario in
1972.
He is the son of Mr. & Mrs.
Lloyd Mousseau and is serving
his apprenticeship with McKay-
Cocker Construction of London
and now attending the George
Brown College of Applied Arts
earlier and gained three victories
in four starts. This week the
Exeter teams again won three
times, but in a little different
manner.
In Saturday's openers it was a
clean sweep for Exeter as the
Waxers won the mite game 5-1
and the Broncos were successful
by a score of 3-2 in the novice
division.
Sunday, Trenton won the mite
game 3-1 and Exeter was vic-
torious 1-0 in the novice contest.
About 45 adults made the trip
with the Trenton teams and were
entertained by the Exeter
parents at a Saturday evening
party at the Exeter arena which
included skating.
The Michigan adults stayed at
a Grand Bend motel while the
hockey players were billeted with
Exeter youngsters Saturday
night.
Prior to the skating party
Saturday night, the fathers of the
Exeter mite and novice teams
met in an exhibition game of
hockey. Yes, it was supposed to
be hockey. Despite erroneous
reports on the scoreboard, the
final outcome was 1-0 for the
fathers,of the mites.
In Saturday's mite game, the
Waxers spotted Trenton an early
first period goal and then
bounced back to score five
straight goals to post the 5-1 win.
After Robbi Dunn scored for
Trenton, Dave Underwood tied
the count on an unassisted effort.
Bill Glover followed with another
solo goal before the first period
was over.
The second period was
scoreless and Dave Shaw took
over in the scoring department in
the final frame. Shaw fired two
goals all by himself and then
provided an assist on Scott
Batten's successful shot.
Two late third period goals by
John Drabczyk provided the
Trenton mites with their 3-1
Sunday win, He was also
responsible for his team's other
goal in the first period. The lone
Exeter goal was fired by Dave
Shaw as he converted a pass from
Bill Glover at the one minute
mark of the second period.
In Saturday's novice game, the
Broncos scored the first three
goals and then held off a bid by
Trenton which fell one goal short.
Jeff Fuller notched two of the
Exeter goals and Mike Taylor
scored the other. Scoring for
Trenton were Scott Muir and
Gary Abate.
Sunday's novice contest was
close from start to finish with
Mark Parsons blinking the light
at 833 of the third period to
provide the only scoring in the
game. The assist went to David
M, Bell.
The Shipka Saints wasted little
time in eliminating the Centralia
College Saints in the semi-final
round of the South Huron
Intermediate hockey league,
The Shipka club opened the
series Wednesday with a 7-4 win,
scored a lopsided 13-3 decision
Friday, squeaked out a 4-3 ver-
dict Sunday and wound things up
Tuesday night with a 7-4 victory.
Bill Hoffman fired four goals to
lead the Shipka win in the final
game, Tuesday. Adding single
goals were Bill Bowden, Dennis
Morrissey and Stan Lovie,
Scoring in single fashion for the
College club were Doug Hum-
phreys, Don Hewitt, Brian
Bogden and Ted Brown.
In Sunday's win over the
College, Shipka scored three goals
in the first period, added another
in the second and held off a third
period threat to win 4-3.

Doug Humphreys, Dwight
Hargreaves and Gord McKay

Friday night, Shipka had little
trouble in overpowering a
