The three-member playground staff will be the same as a year ago. Dianne Adkins will be the chief playground supervisor and her assistants are Sandra Shapton and Anne Pinder. Exeter's RAP committee this week selected the personnel which will be in charge of this summer's swimming and playground programs. The Exeter Legion Auxiliary pee wees with another of their patented whirlwind finishes downed Delhi 5-2 Sunday af- ternoon in the Norfolk County town to advance to the fourth round of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Pee Wee "B" playoffs. The Exeter club lost the first game in Delhi in overtime and then Pounced back on home ice to tie the series, also in overtime. Sunday, the local pee wees overcame a 2-0 lead and came on strong with four unanswered goals in the third period to eliminate Delhi. The next opposition for the Exeter club will come from Niagara-on-the-Lake and the first game of a best-of-three series is slated for the Exeter arena, Saturday afternoon at 4,30 p.m. Date of the return game has not been set. A power play produced the game tying goal as Bill Fairbairn scored on passes from Jack Nairn and Jamie Robb at 13.55 of the second period. The goal which proved to be the winner was shot by Pete Loveless as he finished off a fine effort by team-mates Bill Dunnell and Jack Nairn. The insurance goal in the third frame came from the stick of Dick Doughty, Loveless and Nairn drew assists. their lead to 3-0 on scores from Jamie Robb and Jack Nairn. Drew Haldane scored for Durham as the period was coming to a close. In the middle frame, two more goals upped the L-I lead to 5-1. Tom Hodgins scored at 4,47 as he stole the puck in the Durham end and Robb registered with help from Cousineau and Galloway. The final goal came early in the third period when Dave Revington fired the puck into the Durham net. Assists went to Jack Nairn and Doug Galloway. Marksman for Exeter as he picked up a hat trick. Delhi took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Van Prey and upped their margin by another goal early in the second session. Scoring was Walters. Paul Pooley put the Exeter youngsters on the scoreboard for the first time late in the same period as he converted a pass from Randy Fisher. At the seven minute mark of the third period he was back in the scoring department again to even the score. This time the assist went to his twin brother, Perry, Randy Parsons fired what proved to be the winning goal at the halfway mark of the third on a play set up by Dave Bogart. Paul Pooley fired an insurance marker minutes later to increase his scoring total to three goals. Derek Regier was on the firing end of the final Exeter goal on a play originated by Paul Pooley. In the dying moments of the game, an Exeter player was penalized and Delhi attempted to capitalize by pulling their goalie and putting on an extra forward. This gave Delhi a six man to four advantage but the Exeter boys came up with a strong defensive effort to keep the puck out of the net. Exeter coach Bev Skinner said after the game, "It was a terrific team effort. The boys never gave up, even when we were behind. Jack Nairn again led the Jets to the win with goals in the first and third periods. His first period score came on help from Bill Dunnell and Steve Proctor. The other goal was produced by Dunnell with defencemen Don Urbshott and Barry Baynham assisting. The Jet lead was increased to 5- 1 after two periods of play. Dave Revington notched the first as he picked up a drop pass from Jamie Robb and Tom Hodgins fired the second with assists going to Steve Proctor and Bill Bourne. The other middle frame score was on a power play as Cousineau completed a passing effort with Robb and Nairn. Ab Smith scored for the Barons. In the third period Nairn scored in the early moments for the Jets to up the lead to 6-1. Then the Barons bounced back to score three times on goals by Gary Chinnick, Ivan Warmer and Ab Smith. The Barons pulled their goalie in the dying minutes of the game but it backfired as Jamie Robb scored into the open net. Reverse Procedure The pattern used by the Jets in winning in Durham Friday night was a reverse as they were forced to come from behind to post the 5-3 win. The Huskies led after the first 20 minutes of play. Larry Schaefer, Dave May and Gerry Herman were the Durham goal getters in the opening period With one game still remaining on the regular schedule, the Lucan-Ilderton Jets have clin- ched first place in the Ontario Hockey Association Senior "B" league, The Jets who were in Preston last night Wednesday for their final game with the Jesters have accumulated a point total of 53. The Stratford Perths, also with one game left are solid in second spot with 50 points. The playoffs in the senior "B" league which is new this year get underway for the Jets Sunday afternoon at the Ilderton arena at two o'clock when they play host to the Bothwell Barons. The best-of-nine series will resume in Bothwell for the next two games to be played on Wednesday, March 14 and Sunday afternoon, March 18. In the quarter final rounds it will likely by Stratford against Preston and the Durham Huskies taking on the London Kings. These will be best-of-seven sets with the two winners meeting for the right to meet either the Jets or Bothwell for the league championship. The Jets enjoyed a successful week with three consecutive victories. Wednesday night they travelled to Bothwell to edge the Barons 7-4 and then a sweep of a week-end home and home series with the Durham Huskies. In Durham Friday night the Jets were on the right end of a 5-3 score and Sunday afternoon they triumphed by a 6-1 count. Bantams face Beamsville The Exeter bantams move into the fourth round of play in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Bantam "B" playoffs Sunday. They travel to Beamsville for the first game in a best-of-three series at six o'clock with the return game in Exeter on _Saturday, March 17 at the same time, 6 p.m. Along the playoff trail the Exeter youngsters have eliminated St. Marys, South London and Port Dover. Jets playing coach Jack Nairn was a popular choice, not only for the centre ice spot on the first team but the most valuable player in the entire league. Nairn drew 15 points at centre ice and 17 as the most valuable. Bill Dunnell of the Jets amassed the most points for a defen- ceman. Bill Fairbairn, a graduate of Exeter minor ranks was named to the second all-star team at left wing eight points to his credit. Ron Ryan of Woodstock was the first team selection at left wing. Rob Beer of the Stratford Perths and Bill Bentley of Both- well were tied for the goal ten- ding choices while Jim Betts was the other first team defenceman and John St. Cyr was named at right wing, Both are from the Stratford Perths, In addition to Fairbairn and the goal tenders other second team choices were Bob Hetherington of Durham and Mitch Kennedy of Stratford on defence, Bob Jeffrey of Stratford at centre and Don Jones of Woodstock at right wing. Next to Jack Nairn in the most valuable player balloting came Ron Earl of Stratford and Dale Rahn of the Durham Huskies. Steer This Way Two Injured The win over Durham Sunday afternoon was a bit costly in the fact two members of the L-I club were injured. Star left winger Bill Fairbairn suffered a broken nose when struck by Durham goalie Brian Caley's stick and Pete Loveless was cut for four stit- ches. The victory was pretty well sewed up in the first period when the Jets scored three times with only one reply by the Huskies. The game was only four minutes old when Jacques Cousineau completed a three- way passing effort with Jamie Robb and Doug Galloway. Before the Huskies could find the scoring range, the Jets raised The South Huron Intermediate hockey league playoffs started Tuesday night with the Zurich Flyers taking the first game in a best-of-seven series over the Hensall Cascadians by a score of 7-6 in overtime, In the other league semi-final, the Shipka Bears and Centralia College Saints will be doing battle in a similar series. The Hensall-Zurich series resumes at the Hensall arena tonight, Thursday and again Sunday afternoon at the Zurich arena. Shipka and the College Saints played last night, Wednesday, meet again Friday night in Zurich and back at Huron Park, Sunday. Glenn Overholt's second goal of the game with about two minutes left in the overtime period gave the Zurich Flyers the 7-6 Tuesday win over Hensall. The Cascadians held a lead in the early part of the game and were able to maintain this to a 4-2 margin after two periods of play. In the first period, Ian McCallum scored twice for Hensall while Rod Chapman fired one successful shot. Scoring for Zurich were Ron Desjardine and Gerald Shantz. The only goal in the second period was notched by Ken Smale of Hensall on a three-way effort with Bill Chipchase and Charlie Schwalm, The Flyers notched three goals in the closing session and Hensall could score only once to create the tie and force overtime. Glenn Overholt, Ron Desjar- dine and Bob Merner were the Zurich third period marksmen. Ken Smale was the only Hensall scorer. In overtime, Bill Chipchase put the Cascadians out in front temporarily as he scoredon a pass from Murray Bell, George Suplat notched the tying goal on an unassisted effort and Overholt fired the winner near the eight minute mark.
