Kinettes get child's letter The Kinette meetings for the month of February were held at the homes of Linda McCallum and Sharon Brokenshire, The Kinettes would like to thank area residents for their contributions when they can- vassed for the Ability Fund, the total amount raised this year was $310. A letter was received from the foster child overseas, and a donation was given to the Ability Fund. The Kinettes are selling tickets for a three-minute shopping spree to be at Als Super Save in Hensall, or $50 in cash. The draw is to be made April 11. The raffles were won by Joanne Bell and Karen Schurman. WMS studies population The March meeting of the Carmel Presbyterian WMS was held Monday afternoon at the church. President Mrs. Rachel Schwalm presided and opened with a poem. Mrs. Pearl Love and Mrs. R.A. Orr took charge of the study and worship, with Mrs. Orr reading a prayer from the Glad Tidings and scripture followed by meditation. Mrs. Love gave the study on India, with the topic of too many mouths to feed. Since 1921 India's population has more than doubled. At the present rate, by the year 2000, will be doubled again. The roll call was answered by 14 members with a sign of spring. The WMS are invited to attend the Easter Thank-Offering meeting at Emmanuel United Church in Zurich April 6. Plans were made for the Easter Thank- Offering meeting April 2 when the guest speaker will be Mrs. Cliff Britton, Hensall. Mrs. Schwalm will be attending the Hamilton-London Synodical to be held in Wingham on April 10, 11. Mrs. Harry Snell read a prayer from These Days. T-A photo Hensall village council heard a deputation from the parks board when Robert Baker and Bevin Bonthron presented their budget for 1973. Council was pleased to learn that the parks board is in good shape financially and they are presenting a decrease of Ladies shown $886.66 in the municipal grant. There will be a meeting March 15 at the arena to discuss renovations which will have to have the permission of the Ontario Municipal Board. This approval may take up to six months to receive. Parents of children who have air rifles are asked to remember that they are liable for damage and also that the age of children with these guns is restricted to 14 years and over. There is a by-law in Hensall prohibiting the discharge of firearms in the village and pellet guns and B-B guns are considered firearms. Guns used in the village will be confiscated. Ernie Davis reported 30 trees taken down and was told to finish up within the next two weeks. There will be a meeting March 12 with the firemen when council will consider an adjustment to the present pay schedule. Anderson celebrated in St. Pauls Anglican presided along with the following ladies from the fellow Churches - Mrs. Earl Rowe, Mrs. Ron Mock, Mrs, Russel Erratt, and Mrs, Wm. Mickle from the United Church; Mrs. G. Schwalm, Mrs. John Baker, Mrs. Edith Bell, Mrs. Malcolm Dougall from the Presbyterian Church; and Mrs, Marg Cole and Mrs. Jack Brintnell from Chiselhurst United; and Mrs. Frank Forrest, Mrs, R.H. Middleton, Mrs. Derwood Windover from St. Pauls Anglican. The introductory music was WI entertains PANELING Natural beauty at its best. A wide selection of finishes, senior citizens played by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Forrest, and each of the ladies had a leader from their group, with the congregation reading all the responses. Mrs, Edith Bell and Mrs,Malcolm Dougall sang a duet entitled "In times like these", accompanied at the organ by Mrs. F. Forrest. Mrs, Rachel Schwalm introduced the guest speaker for the afternoon, Mrs. Eric Luther, who spoke on the themes "Alert in our time" and "Spirit of God" She spoke of her favourite hymn "Breathe on me breath of God", which was sung by everyone. They enjoyed an hour of cards followed by a program convened by the Glen Gowrie WI with Mrs. Francis Anderson as chairman. Following a sing-song Mrs. Christie and her son Stanley entertained with an accordion duet. Mrs. Ruth Frazer and Mrs. James Grinney portrayed little people in a short sketch and Susan Maddock gave an exhibition of baton twirling. Lowell Skinner provided another accordion solo; Murray Frazer a piano solo; and Barbara Anderson showed her skills as a tap-dancer. Another skit was performed, "How to dress and how not to". Then the seniors were en- tertained by the Glen Gowrie ladies hippy band. Betty Ann Hodge performed a solo ac- companied by Joanne Sills. Mrs. Francis Anderson, Mrs. Cecil Burrell, Mrs. Ron Skinner and Mrs. Lloyd Morrison formed a LIMITED CLINTON— 482-9514 HENSALL— 262-2713 SEAFORTH — 527-0910 On March 1 Unit IV met in the Fellowship Hall of Hensall United Church with 21 members and three guests present, Mrs. Jessie McAllister presided and opened the meeting with a scripture verse. Hymns were sung with Mrs. Myrtle Sherritt ac- companying at the piano. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley gave the devotional on Stewardship. She said you cannot serve two masters; there is no half way point using the masters scale of values. The highlight of the afternoon came when Mrs. McAllister introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Edison (Elva) Forrest, whose subject was on India. Everyone was seated along each side of a long table where they could view articles from India which were sent from Mrs. Forrest's nephew, John Scott, Seaforth, who is presently in India, and teaches English and art in a school in the lower Himalayas. Greta Lammie played a piano solo. In the absence of the secretary, Mrs. Grace Peck acted in this position. Almost 100 calls to sick and shut-ing were reported to have been made, The Presbyterial, which was held February 28 in Northside United Church in Seaforth, was reported on by four members who at- tended. An invitation was received to attend Goshen United Church on March 15 and to attend' Zurich Emmanuel United Church on April 6. Unit IV are responsible for flowers for the church for March. Writer speaks at UCW clay Two carloads of ladies from Hensall United Church motored to Seaforth last Wednesday and attended the United Church Women Christian Development Day at Northside United Church, The theme for the day "A light for Christian development". Mr. & Mrs. Russell Kyle, St. Catharines, spent the weekend with Mrs. Nancy Kyle. Hensa ll 4-H Club Meeting The third meeting of the Hensall 4-H "Sew-sews" was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Bill Fuss. Each girl showed their pattern and material. Mrs. Fuss demonstrated a stretch seam and how to reinforce a crotch. Fourteen girls are at- tending this club. New members in congregation At the Sunday morning service of worship in Hensall United Church, the celebration of the Lords Supper took place. Rev. Don Beck preached on the ser- mon topic "A double sacreament of Life". The choir sang the anthem with Gail Travers taking the solo part. Sandra Elizabeth Shroeder, transferred from another congregation, and William Charles Hoy by profession of faith were welcomed into the fellowship of the congregation.
