the funeral of their uncle Jack
Barr in London last Friday.
Bus transportation for men-
tally retarded preschool children
attending the Goderich Municipal
Day Nursery cannot be provided
by the Huron County Board of
Education, it was announced at
the board meeting in Clinton
Monday.
D.J. Cochrane said that the
children are not resident pupils of
the board and therefore are not
eligible for services provided
under the Ontario Schools
Administration Act,
At the present time the children
are being transported by taxi
from the Sheppardton area of
Colborne Township at a cost of
$3.00 per day and from Clinton
and Bayfield at a cost of $12.80
per day, with the parents paying
the fare. A total of 32 children
attend the Nursery School.
Harold Walls, Clerk-Treasurer,
Goderich, had sent a letter to the
board asking it to consider
providing transportation.

students participating.
The board approved the hiring
of one additional teacher for the
Clinton Public School as of
February 1, 1973, for the balance
of the current school year. This
became necessary because of the
families moving in to Vanastra
and the children attending the
Clinton school. Three classes
averaged 36 pupils in the junior
grades and by hiring one teacher
all grades were reduced to 27
pupils each.
The hiring of Mr. E. Eberhardt,
presently on half-time basis at
Queen Elizabeth School for the
Trainable Retarded, Goderich, to
a full-time basis was approved,
commencing February 1, 1973.
The board approved the
recommendation from the
management committee that
gasoline tenders be awarded to
BP Oil Limited to supply gasoline
for all the school buses owned by
the Huron County Board of
Education at 41.9 cents per gallon
at Stephen, Zurich, Brookside,
Grey, Howick and Turnberry.
The board voted to have the
1973 education tax levy in-
stallments due as follows: 50 per
cent on June 30, 1973, and the
remaining 50 per cent on
December 15, 1973.

Donald McDonald will form a
committee to examine all aspects
of the driver education program,
Three trustees will be ap-
pointed by the Educational
Committee of the Board to an Ad
Hoc Committee on Schools for
Trainable Retarded Children for
1973-74.

combined to make this week-
end's fourth annual Crippled.
Children's Day at the Pineridge
Chalet the most successful ever,
While the financial statement
has not been completed, officials
expect the net profit to be much
higher than last year's amount of
$1,544.59. All monies go to the
London Children's Treatment
Centre.
Nearly all of the 130 member
families of the Pineridge pitched
in to help with the activities
which began Friday night and
continued until late Sunday af-
ternoon,
Sunday was by far the busiest
of the three days with most of the
feature attractions scheduled.
More than 900 servings of pan-
cakes and sausages were gobbled
up by the hungry visitors.
Handling most of the frying
duties were CFPL's Bill Brady
and Ralph Duffus, chairman of
the London Treatment Centre
along with Pineridge resident
cooks Bob Baker and Russ
Tiernan,
During the weekend, 1,700
moose and venison burgers were
consumed along with 2,500 cups
of coffee. Add to this five gallons
each of catsup and relish, two
gallons of mustard and 20 pounds
of onions.
Duncan Minnis, London's
Timmy for 1973 who was in at-
tendance Sunday Morning was
forced to leave early due to
illness. Bob Sweeney, Timmy of
1971 took over in the afternoon
and was the winner of one of the
celebrity races.
In addition to Bill Brady, Dean
Chevalier and Tom ' Bird
represented CFPL along with
Dave Cerzon, Jim Swan and
Chick Allison of CKNX Wingham
and Donald MacDonald of CKCO
Kitchener.
The top point getter in the
snowmobile races was Joe
Walsh, RR 2, St. Marys and he
turned all his winnings back to
the Crippled Children's fund.
Top notch entertainment was
provided Sunday afternoon by the
Seaforth girls band, the London
Police band, Joe Overholt, Ken
Scott, Jim Scott, Nelson Howe,
Fred Harburn, Glen Koehler, Bill
Moser, Ray Albright, Bob and
Danny Heywood and the Staffa
step dancers Karen and Betty
Ann Miller.
Prizes for a children's draw
were donated by Tuckey
Beverages, Exeter and Crest
Hardware and Ron's Health
Centre, both of Hensall,
The winners were Dale Sim-
mons, Jackie Hyde, Brent Atthill,
Tracey Coward, Heidi Eisen-
schink, Sharon MacNaughton,
