The Women's Institute met on
Thursday afternoon in the Village
Hall, with Mrs. A. Hamilton
acting president. A letter from
Mrs. Niblett the Provincial
President was read and offered
many new ideas. Exeter Fair
entries were described and will
be made.
The invitation to a dessert
euchre by Elimville W.I. will be
accepted by several ladies, A
delegate to the Waterloo officers
Conference was designated for
May. The 1973 nominating
committee will be Mrs. E. Webb,
Mrs. L. Adams, and Mrs. C.
Lovie.
The convener of agriculture
and canadian industries, Mrs.
Carman Lovie enlarged on the
motto "If we do not plant
knowledge when we are young, it
will give us no shade when we are
old," by saying we should teach
our families to he good in every
day living. Citizens who have
gathered knowledge over the
years are alert elderly citizens.
Mrs. Lovie's main theme was
that the farmer of to-day is a
jack-of-all trades. Modern far-
ming is mechanized to be com-
petitive.

The 4-11 "Knotty Knits" an-
swered the roll call by naming a
knit garment. Two new girls were
welcomed to the club Mrs. John
Kelders showed how to fill our
sheets and and demonstrated
how to pin the pattern to the
material.
Older sewers helped junior
girls pin on patterns and some
were shown how to cut properly
to avoid stretching material.
Leaders of the group are Mrs.
John Kelders and Mrs. Case
Vandenbygaart.
UCW
Anglican Church Women held
their monthly meeting at the
home of Mrs. A.J. Best. Roll Call
was answered by a Valentine
verse. Pres. Mrs. M. MacDonald
announced that the World Day of
Prayer is to be held at Dashwood
United Church, March 2nd.
Gospel Hall
The Gospel Hall Bible Study
Week was well attended. Mr.
Sharp of Midland was the
speaker. The culminating supper
on Friday served 170 persons.
Children were given rewards for
Bible verses and attendance each
night.
Euchre
At the Women's Institute's
dessert euchre on Valentine's
Day, seven tables were in play.
Prize winners were: Mrs. Hazel
Mitchell, London; Mrs. Eva
Bariteau; Mrs. Aileen Ravelle;
Jack Ridley; and Edna Wood-
burn,
Personals
Mrs. Art Baker 86, of Green
Acres, broke her hip recently and
is in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Mr. & Mrs. J.T. Coltman, who
will be wed 67 years in May are
proud of the arrival of their 11th
grandson named John Thomas
for his great-grandfather, The
parents are Mr. & Mrs. Richard
Coltman, Sarnia.
A successful bake sale was held
at the IGA food store by the group
committee for first company
cubs and Scouts, Mrs. D. Jerrard,
Mrs. D. Brenner, and Mrs. J.
Robitaille.
