The Lucan-Ildertort Jets with
two wins in three Ontario Hockey
Association Senior "B" starts
this week maintained their three
point lead at the head of the
standings,
The Jets lost a Friday night
contest to the Preston Jesters by
a score of 9-6 and then came back
with two straight victories. They
downed the Durham Huskies 5-2
Sunday afternoon and beat the
cellar dwelling Woodstock
Royals 8-4 Tuesday eight,
This week the Jets will be at
home at the Ildertort arena
Sunday evening at 7,30 to the
same Woodstock club and next
Wednesday night they travel to
Bothwell to meet the Barons,

In the final frame, Barry
Baynham was successful with
two shots while Loveless notched
his second of the night, The other
goal for the winners came from
the stick of Jack Nairn. John
Gignac picked up the final
marker for the Royals.

Area hockey fans are in for
exciting action Friday night at
the Huron Park arena when the
South Huron intermediate league
all-stars take on CFB London in
an exhibition game.
The top players from the nye
teams in the South Huron loop,
Centralia College, Huron Park,
Shipka, Hensall and Zurich will
be under the direction of
manager Gord Hay of Zurich and
Jesse Reed of the Centralia
College Saints will handle the
coaching duties. Game time is
8.30.
The goal tending duties will be
shared by Gerry Cooper of Huron
Park, Zurich's Glenn Gascho and
Keith Hughes of Centralia
College,
Other college players on the
team will be Bruce Corrigan,
Bryce Bedore and Don Caesar
while Glenn Overholt, Dick
Bedard and Ron Corriveau will
represent Zurich and Jim Pfaff,
Gary Leger and Bob Pinter are
the other Huron Park
representatives,
Dan Dalton, Shane Burley,
Stan Lovie and Larry Laye will
represent the Shipka Bears while
Bill Chipchase, Ken Smale,
Murray Bell and Gary Kyle will
be on ice from the Hensall
Cascadians,
Cousineau leads scorers
Against their old rivals, the
Durham Huskies, the Jets took a
2-1 lead after the first period of
play and kept increasing the
margin by one goal in each
period. Speedy Jacques
Cousineau led the victory with a
three goal effort.
After Bob Stoutenburg opened
the game scoring with a goal for
the Huskies at 3.19, Cousineau
took over and scored two goals in
less than three minutes just past
the halfway mark.
Cousineau's first successful
shot came on passes from Tom
Hodgins and Jamie Robb while
Pete Loveless and Bill Dunnell
were responsible in setting up the
second goal.
The only goal of the second
session came from the stick of

The third period was only two
minutes old when Pete Loveless
put the Jets ahead 4-1. Assists
went to Jack Nairn and Dave
Revington. Drew Haldane
produced the final Durham score
and Cousineau completed his hat
trick near the end of the game.
Cousineau took a pass from
Jamie Robb and faked another
pass but instead slid the puck into
the net. Lorne Daer was in goal
for the Jets and turned in a solid
performance in holding the
Huskies to two goals.
Fall behind early
Against Preston, Friday night,
the Lucan-Ilderton club got off to
a bad start and the Jesters were
able to hop into a 5-1 lead after
the first twenty minutes of play,

goal of the first period for the Jets
on passes from Jack Nairn and
Dave Revington,
Ted Goertzen was the top
scorer for Preston with four
goals, two coming with the
Preston team playing shor-
thanded and the Jets power play
on,
Jacques Cousineau again
spearheaded the Jets scoring
parade with a hat trick per-
formance. The speedster from
Smooth Rock Falls scored twice
in the second period and came
back with another successful shot
late in the third period.
The other Jet goals were fired
into the net by Pete Loveless and
Dave Revington,

The Hensall Cascadians scored
a pair of wins this week in South
Huron hockey league action,
They edged the Centralia College
Saints 7-6 Thursday night and
came back Monday with a 5-3 win
over Huron Park.
The Cascadians will be back at
the Hensall arena tonight,
Thursday to play host to the
Centralia Saints. Friday night the
(Owned and operated by Bankes, Payne & Ley Limited)
league all-stars meet CFB
London in an exhibition game at
the Huron Park arena at 8.30.
In Monday's win over Huron
Park, Dave Beer paced the
Hensall win with a four goal
performance. The fifth marker
was notched by Murray Bell.
Ian McCallum's goal at 18,27 of
the third period gave the Hensall
club the 7-6 win over the Saints,
Thursday night. Hensall took a 3-
1 lead after the first period of
play on goals from the sticks of
Charlie Schwalm, Dave Beer and
Ken Smale. Gord McCoy was the
lone marksman for the College.
In the second frame each team
was able to score only once.
Wayne Corbett completed a
three-way passing effort with Bill
Chipchase and Dave Beer and
Don Hewitt replied for the Saints
on passes from Doug Humphrey
and Bryce Bedore.
The Saints scored three quick
goals early in the third pertod to

Twci hat tricks

Lankamps' Esso defeated
Cowans B.P. 9-2 Saturday. We
had two "hat tricks" in the game
one by John Stephens and the
other by Doug Hoffman, the
goalie who decided he would like
to play forward for a game.
Larry Dawson added to the total
with two and Steve Pearce scored
one. Alex Osgood and Dave Bell
each Scored a goal for B.P.
Conklin Lumber defeated Don
Taylor Motors 7-4. Jeff Newby
was the scoring star of the game
as he blanked the red light four
times. Single goals where added
by Dean Boyle, Murray Heywood
and Jeff Fuller. For Taylor's
Doug Brooks scored twice with
singles by David Bell and Wayne
Parsons.
Nor thlanders were rolling on
Saturday as they defeated
Elaines 10-2. Paul Gaiser was top
marksman with four goals.
Dennis Preszcator scored three,
Randy Parsons fired two and
Darrell Preszcator notched a
single goal. Perry Pooley scored
both goals for Elaine's.
Avocos came out on top with a
score of 6-2 over Nothers Dave
Bogart had the 'hat trick', Paul
Pooley added two and Eugene
Clarke one. Brad Taylor and
Dave Atthill each scored a goal
for Nothers.
Minor hockey teams are in
play-offs and St. Marys is the
opposition for the pee wees
bantam and midgets. On Friday
night at 7 o'clock the Exeter
Legion bantams play St. Marys
bantams here. This should be a
good game, so come out and lend
your support.
The Jr, Hawks have one home
game left in the schedule and it is
on Sunday at 2 pm against
Clinton, A meeting is being held
at Lucan on Saturday to draw up
the play-off schedule.
Ballet and gymnastics resume
this Saturday after a one week
lay-off. The figure skating car-
nival is Saturday, February 24.

getting underway
The first rounds of play for
Exeter clubs in Ontario Minor
Hockey Association playoffs are
underway. The Exeter midgets
dropped the first game of a best-
of-three series to St. Marys by a
score of 5-0.
The Exeter pee wees met St.
Marys in their first game last
night, Wednesday and the ban-
tams will be at home to St. Marys
at the Exeter arena Friday night
at seven o'clock.
Exeter's minor teams scored
three victories over clubs from
Huron Park in a Shamrock
league tripleheader at the Exeter
arena, Wednesday night.
The Exeter pee wees scored a
4-1 win, the bantams racked up a
9-0 shut-out and the midgets were
on the right side of a 7-1 score.
Eugene Clarke scored a pair of
goals to lead the pee wees to their
win, Checking in with single goals
were Dave Atthill and Preston
Dearing. The lone Huron Park
score was fired by Mark Cronyn.
Paul Brooks and Paul Shatpon
each hit the mark on three oc-
casions to' pace the bantam
scoring attack. Adding goals in
single fashion were Doug Osgood,
Brian }Torre]] and Ken Pinder.
The only double scorer for the
midgets was Wayne Regier while
Dan McIver, Randy Regier,
Brian Penhale, Brad Roelofson
and Brian Taylor each scored
single markers.
Hitting the scoresheet for
Huron Park was Randy Funston.
In the final Shamrock league
games of the season, two Exeter
clubs broke even with St. Thomas
Friday night,
The Exeter Broncos scored a 4-
2 novice division win over St.
Thomas and finished on top of the
league standings. In the pee wee
contest, St. Thomas scored a 6-1
decision. .
Rick Lindenfield, Jeff Fuller,
Doug Brooks and Dave "Dinger"
Bell were the Bronco marksmen
while Paul Snowsell and Jim
McGillivray replied for St.
Thomas.
Chris Murray took care of most
of the St. Thomas pee wee scoring
with four goals. The lone Exeter
marker was notched by Steve
Skinner.,
