"These petitions are receiving overwhelming support in the Goderich area and it is hoped that they will be completed in time for presentation to the County representatives at the Goderich town council meeting on February 1. Will dedicate new books The new Presbyterian Book of Praise will be dedicated at Caven Church by the minister, Rev. Wilfred Jarvis Sunday, In the making since 1964, the new hymn book was published late in 1972 and will soon be in use in all Presbyterian Churches throughout Canada. There have been two previous hymnals in the Presbyterian Church, the first Book of Praise being published in 1897 and a revised edition 21 years later, In Presbyterian tradition, the Psalter occupies the first place in the new book, sticking closely to the historic Psalter of 1650, but changing a word here and there to make the sense clearer. Many of the hymns contained in the hymnal are 'old favorites' but a significant number of new songs written in recent years have been added. In all, there are over 600 songs in the book. In conjunction with the publication of the new Book of Praise, the Presbyterian Church is bringing out in the immediate future a supplementary hymn-. book suitable for youth groups, camp fires and informal get- togethers. The new hymn books to be dedicated are being presented by the Presbyterian Church Women of Caven at the 10 a.m. service Sunday. South Huron District High School.
