Shane Burley took a pass from
Bill Hoffman to score the third
Shipka marker and close the
Hensall margin to a single goal.
The Cascadians came up with
three goals later in the period to
preserve the victory. Ken Smale,
Bob Carlisle and Rod Chapman
were the successful Cascadians.
Assists went to Smale, Bill
Chipchase and Jim Cooper.

Newby Tire took over un-
disputed possession of second
place in the Exeter and district
hockey league with a resounding
11-3 win over Les Pines, Thur-
sday night.
The senior Hawks trounced the
Cougars 10-2 to stay in first place
with a season point total of 15.
Newby Tire has 12 points, Les
Pines are third with 10 points and
the Cougars trail with seven.
Doug Webber scored four goals
to head the Newby scoring. Next
in line with a three goal per-
formance came Bob McDonald
while single scores were notched
by Gary Parsons, Ed Kerslake
and Wayne Brintnell.
Scoring in single fashion for
Les Pines were Al Gillian,
George Bruneau and Hans
Zeehuisen.
Hat trick efforts by Steve
Murley and Rick McDonald led
the Hawks scoring% Next in line
with two goals was John Hayman
while Ron Lindenfield and Doug
Fairbairn notched one goal
apiece.
Howard Churchill and Jack
Rogers were the marksmen for
the Cougars.

Principal J.L. Wooden released
the list of top students during the
first term at South Huron District
High School this week.
A grade 10 student Kathy
DeJong topped her class in five
subjects including a mark of 100
in history 250.
Elizabeth Jolly in grade 12 and
Sherry Nadon, a grade 9 student
each headed their classes in four
different subjects.
The only 100 marks were
chalked up by Elizabeth Jolly and
Jeff Reaburn in Mathematics 450.

The Exeter Broncos scored two

the Ilderton scoring with both
goals.
Wayne Parsons paced the
Broncos scoring attack with a
three goal performance. Taking
care of the rest of the scoring
were Jeff Fuller, Steve Pearce,
Pete Tuckey, Doug Brooks, Jeff
Newby and Rick Lindenfield.

with a hat trick performance was
Glenn Overholt. Adding single
scores were Ron Desjardine and
Paul Corriveau.
In the win over Shipka, Hensall
took a 4-1 lead after the first
period of play and were able to
maintain the comfortable lead.
Bill Bowden opened the game
scoring for Grand Bend and then
the Cascadians bounced back
with four unanswered goals..Bill
Chipchase fired two goals with
Rod ChaprilanAlut ran MeGallum
picking up singles. Ien Smale
grabbed two assists while Charlie
Schwalm and Bob Carlisle each
helped on one score.

Exeter PS
takes titles
Exeter public school won two
district elementary school
championships in a floor hockey
tournament played at South
Huron District High School,
Friday afternoon.
The local school took the
championship trophies in the
boys and girls divisions against
teams from Stephen, Usborne,
J.A.D. McCurdy at Huron Park
and Zurich.
In the boys division Exeter won
the opening game 4-2 over
Stephen in overtime, edged
Zurich 2-1 in the next round and
won the title with successive wins
over McCurdy by scores of 6-1
and 3-2.
The Exeter girls met their
toughest opposition from
Usborne winning the final contest
4-2 after taking a second round
game 2-0.
Usborne advanced to the finals
with three wins, over Stephen 2-0
and 1-0 and 1-0 against Zurich.
Named the most valuable
players in the Tournament were
Jill Tuckey and Paul Pooley, both
of Exeter. The referees for the 16
game tourney were Brett Lavier,
Randy Tieman, Paul Robinson
and Perry Stover.
