United Church
The regular service of worship
was held in Lucan United Church
on Sunday conducted by the
minister, Rev. W,C. Tupling. The
sermon was the third in the series
"How?" and was entitled "How
Can I Face Death?"
Mr, Tupling pointed out that
death is a natural phenomenon in
the world of nature, and is indeed
essential for the continuation of
the life process, The only way to
produce new life is to die. As
Christians we are not to fear
natural physical death; rather,
we are to fear what lies beyond
death: what John referred to as
"the second death".

An excutive meeting of the
Lucan-Biddulph Branch of
Canadian Cancer Society met at

January 24. The representatives
who attended the seminar in
Toronto January 20 and 21 made
a report stating they were
disappointed that the smaller
towns were not considered at the
seminar.
The main emphasis was on the
major cities and large towns,
However they were impressed
with many speakers and came
home with a great deal of in-
formation.
DALEY'S WEEKLY COMMENTS
By SID DALEY
Wow, did we have a time at
l3ranch 540's first mixed bowling
Sunday, January 20. Over 40
members turned out, The en-
thusiasm seemed to grow with
every ball thrown, Pin sure
somebody must be stiffer than I
am.
The pot luck dinner which
followed was just out of this
world, there was more variety
than you would find at a
smorgasbord in the big city to the
south of us. I. judge there was
enough left over to feed as many
again.
Incidentally the winner of the
womens high score, only two
games played, was Mary Cronyn
with 350, men's high Angus
Murray 462, and the winners of
the crying towels were Lena
Juergins and Lawrence Hirtzel
whose scores we will keep secret.
The response was so great, by
popular demand, it was decided
to hold a second mixed bowling
on Sunday, February 25, Keep
this date open you will be happy
you did.
Man, did 540 ever take a
trimming at the hands of our
Exeter Comrades at the first
challenge dart match held in
Lucan, Saturday. Kind of
reminds a person of recent
boxing match, I reckon we un-
derestimated our Exeter coun-
terparts.
Well, back to the drawing
board and more strategy

At least one minor and one
major engine tune-up a year is
a necessity.
Accident investigators want
states to adopt tougher motor
vehicle inspection laws, and
give police authority to ban
unsafe cars from the road.
It is not a good idea to warm
up the engine for five minutes

An idling engine does little
work, and lakes longer to
