Pat Sullivan Sr. has returned
after visiting his wife in St.
Joseph's Hospital, Sarnia and
with Helen and Dan Loos.
Mr. & Mrs. Dave Morrissey are
enjoying a holiday in Pompano
Beach, Florida.
The young people's group of the
Parish met Sunday Evening in
the school gym. Their guests
were two young men from the
Alcoholics Anonymous group in
London. After a very interesting
talk and a question and answer
period with the visitors
refreshments were served.

hike to the mountain on
Saturday morning. They were

Wilfred Jarvis and his assistant,
David Laing, who helped them to

The January meeting of the
Elimville Women's Institute was
held on Wednesday afternoon
following the noon luncheon.
Roll Call was answered by "A
resolution my husband wishes I
would make. Following the
minutes and communications,
plans were discussed for the 25th
Anniversary at the March
meeting.
It was decided to purchase new
drapes for the hall instead of
investing in life memberships for
25 year members. Corsages will
be made for the 25yr members at
the celebration at Usborne
Central School in March.
Achievement Day for the 4-H
course "The Third Meal" will be
held Saturday at Exeter High
School. Mrs. Howard Pym gave
an outline of the metric system
which we will be using.
Mrs. Cliff Jaques and Mrs.
James Miller were in charge of
the program. Mrs. Jaques gave a
reading "The New Year and a
skit, "Fault-Finding" was
presented by Mrs. Howard Pym,
Mrs. Jaques and Mrs. Miller. A
reading, Mental-Pollution" was
presented by Mrs. Miller.
A demonstration on "Petal
Dip" was given by Mrs. Tom
Herm
Euchre Party
The Elimville Womens
Institute held their euchre party
at the hall Monday evening.
There "were 10 tables playing.
Winners were: ladies high, Mrs.
Eva Beckett, Woodham; mens
high, Mr, Floyd Cooper; lone
hands, Rose Atkinson, Lucan;
lucky cup, Mrs. Budden Kirkton.

At the first meeting of the year,
Biddulph township council made
a request to the Ontario
Department of Transportation
and Communications to
illuminate two highway in-
tersections in the municipality.
The two locations are at the
corner of the Granton Road and
Highway 7 and at the intersection
of No, 4 highway and Concession
Road 6 and 7.
The building permit ap-
plication from Kaschper Racing
Shells to add an office to their
existing building at Lot 7, N.L.R.
Concession was approved.
Council decided to fill Out an
application to be forwarded to the
Park, Michigan.
A large crowd attended the
reception at the Exeter Legion
hall for Mr. & Mrs. David
Passmore Saturday evening.
Mr. & Mrs. Ross Skinner and
family, Joan Kerslake, Alvin
Cooper were guests at Mr. & Mrs.
Don Parsons and family Sunday
celebrating January birthdays.
Laverne Skinner returned
home on Monday from the
hospital.
Leaders win
in Ausable
The two top clubs in the
Ausable Valley Rec hockey
league increased their margins
as the result of Sunday's usual
doubleheader.
Lieury downed Shipka 6-3 and
Ailsa Craig defeated Brinsley by
a score of 9-6. The Lieury club
leads the league with 16 points,
Ailsa Craig is second with an
even dozen points while Brinsley
is third with five points and
Shipka brings up the rear with
three points.
Sonny Slater headed the Lieury
scoring attack with a pair of
goals. Scoring one goal each were
Randy Malcolm, Murray Dixon,
Ernie Schlegel and Wayne Ropp.
Scoring in single fashion for
Shipka were Bob Chapdelaine,
Shane Burley and Brian Hodgins.
A three goal effort by Chuck
Kennedy was best for Ailsa
Craig. Next came Gwen Griffiths
with two goals while Tom
Dobinson, Dave Collins and
Larry Dobinson notched single
scores.
George Tryon's hat trick was
best for Brinsley. Phil Conlin,
Bob Hodgins and Jack Conlin
completed the scoring for the
losers with one goal apiece.

wedding anniversary January 12.

At Friday's Euchre at St.
John's by the Lake, prizes were
won by Mrs. H. Green, ladies
high; Don Kobe, Men's high; Bill

Gill, low ladies; Horace Lake,
low men's; and Mrs, A. Hodgins
won the door prize.
United Church Women had a
good turnout at their recent
meeting. Mrs. Colin Love led the
worship and Mrs. E. Desjardine
introduced the first page of the
Church Women's Study Book on
India. Mrs. Elgin Webb was the
secretary, and Mrs. A. Miller is
the leader.

The "Corny Cooks" 4-H group
attended achievement day in
Exeter High School Saturday.
County honors were awarded to
Rosemary Kelders and Liz
Smeekens. Debby Ford was the
commentator for the exhibit on a
buffet table setting for a shower.
Recipe files and books on the
Third Meal were displayed.
The girls received awards and
spoons for their project work.
The large group participating

"A Now Year" was the theme
for the :January meeting of the
U.C.W. held in the schoolroom of
the church, A hymn was sung to
open the devotions. Mrs. Wm.
lliott read a poem "New Year
Thoughts" and Mrs. Elmer Powe
gave the Scripture and com-
mentary on "Three things in the
World on Poetry,". This was
followed by prayer by Mrs. John
Beaten,
Mrs. Alvin Essery played. a
piano instrumental and a film
wash shown on Nepal which was
centred around the festival they
have each year. Mrs. Robert
Blair presided for the business
and.. opened with a poem "New
Year Reports". Annual reports.
were read and adopted.
The executive presented their
reports on activities planned for
the year which include an "April
Calendar", "Luncheon is Ser-
ved" and "May Blossom Tea".
The voluntary givings of $20 per
member a year is also to con-
tinue.
Senior Citizens
Senior citizens met in the
Community Centre on Monday
afternoon for cards and
crokinole. The group, sponsored
by the United Church Women,
voted to meet every two weeks
during the winter months.
Make layettes
at Cromarty

CROMARTY
Cromarty Ladies' Aid decided
to again make layettes for the
Unitarian Services Committee at
their January meeting which was
held at the home of the president,
Mrs. John Miller. The layettes,
each consisting of four large
diapers, two shirts, two jackets,
one towel and washcloth, one
receiving blanket, two nighties,
one bar laundry soap, and four
safety pins, will be turned in at
the March meeting.
Mrs. Miller opened the meeting
with a reading, "What is a
Year?" The scripture was read
by Mrs. Robert Laing and Mrs.
Carey led in prayer. Seven
members answered the roll call
