Kings break even at home,
odd senior 'A' goalkeeper
The two bottom clubs in the
Exeter and district Rec hockey
league scored wins in Thursday's
regular play and moved into a tie
for second place.
Newby Tire downed the senior
Hawks 7-2 and Les Pines downed
the Cougars 6-3 to send their
season point totals to eight. The
Hawks are in first place with 13
points and the Cougars are in
fourth, ,spot with seven points to
their credit.
Tom Watt and Jack Mayer
each scored two goals to pace the
Newby win over the Hawks.
Adding single goals to the win-
ning cause were Jim Dingwell,
Dale Skinner and Craig Webber.
Scoring in single fashion for the
Hawks were Ron Lindenfield and
Rick McDonald.
Pete Lawson with a three goal
play set up by Brad Roelofson
and Wayne Regier.
The final Stratford goal was
shot by captain Rick Wozniak.
Some of the visiting Stratford
players were in the line-up on
New Year's Day against an all-
star team from Sweden.

The London Kings split a pair
of Ontario Hockey Association
Senior "13" games played at their
new home at the Huron Park
arena this week.
The Kings scored a close 7-6
decision over the Bothwell
Barons Friday night and Sunday
7.30 p.m.
Close contest
The game with Durham SO-
day was much closer than the
score would indicate, The Kings
pulled goalie Gord Imrie with a
minute and a half to go when they
were behind 5-4 and Bob
Hetherington scored into the
empty net.
Gerry Herman was double
scorer for the Huskies while
single goals in addition to
Hetherington were notched by
Dave May, Dale Rahn and Bob
Stoutenberg,
Marc Macera with an
agressive effort throughout the
game led the Kings scoring at,
tack with a pair of goals. fle also
picked up three of eight penalties
called against the London club.
The other Kings markers were
chalked up by Bruce Qually and
Dave Gilday.
Fast action
Friday's 7-6 Kings win over
Bothwell came in a fast well
played contest. Ray Teasdale
was the star of the game for the
winners coming up with a hat
trick performance.
Completing the goal total for
London were Dave Delpapa,
Bruce Qually, Gerry Prosser arid
Ron Schwindt with a goal apiece.
Mike McIntyre, former London
Knights goalkeeper, recently cut
by the Galt Senior 'A' Hornets
was signed by The Kings over the
weekend. This will give the team
added strength in goal with two
capable net minders in Mike
McIntyre and Gord Imrie, who
played with St. Thomas Jr. A and
the Oakridge Juvenile Cham-
pionship team in 1971.
The Kings remain in fifth place
behind Bothwell and ahead of
Woodstock and Preston in the
Ontario Senior 'B' League.
The Kings outstanding player
award for last week was won by
Ray Teasdale, who edged line
mate Marc Macera by one vote,
John Boyd, Gord Imrie and Bill
Fenwick followed in the voting.
A presentation was made to
Ray Teasdale after Sunday's
game at the team party held at
The Albatross. Durham players
and supporters were also in at-
tendance.

Exeter's three minor Clubs broke even in a Shamrock league
tripleheader against Ilderton at
the Exeter arena, Wednesday
night,
In the opening contest, the
Exeter pee weer scored a 7-1
victory, the bantam game was
won by Ilderton by a score of 4-2
and the midget contest ended in a
1-1 draw.
Randy Parsons and Steve
Skinner each scored two goals to
pace the Exeter pee wee scoring
attack. Checking in with single
goals each were Paul Pooley,
Derek Regier, Brian Mercer and
Danny Bell.
The lone Ilderton pee wee
marker was fired by Jeff Mar-
shall late in the third period.
Murray Connolly with a two
goal effort was best for the
Ilderton bantams while Jim
Davis and Greg Adlington not-
ched one goal apiece.
Both Exeter goals came from
the sticks of Ken Pinder. Assists
went to Jim Webb and Torn
Hayter,
The Exeter midget goal was
scored by Randy Regier with Ken
Murray replying for Ilderton.
The Exeter Broncos scored a pair
of victories over the weekend in
scored a 9-0 win over the Exeter
novice No. 2 club at the Exeter
arena, Friday night.

Three points
for Saints
In South Huron hockey league
play this week, the Centralia
College Saints could gain only one
point. Thursday night at the
Hensall arena they.dropped a 4-1
decision to the Hensall
Cascadians and Monday night
they ;were held to a 4-4 draw by
the Huron Park Plugs:
Murray Glanville was the
scoring star for Hensall and took
care of the Saints single han-
dedly. Glanville potted two first
period goals both on unassisted
efforts before Don Caeser netted
the only College score on a pass
from Roger Harrop.
In the second period, Glanville
was back on a three-way passing
effort with Jim Cooper and Ian
McCallum to complete his hat
trick performance.
The only goal of the third
period came from the stick of
Rod Chapman to complete the
Cascadian scoring output. Again
it was on a solo effort.
Don Hewitt fired two goals to
lead the Centralia Saints scoring
attack in the tie with Huron Park,
Adding singles for the students
were Bryce Bedore and Doug
Humphrey.
Scoring in single fashion for
Huron Park were Larry Brint-
nell, Gary Leger, Jim Ralph and
Bob Pinter.

The Exeter midgets came up
with a strong third period effort
Sunday afternoon and edged the
Stratford midgets 5-4 in
exhibition play at the Exeter
arena.
The locals came up with four
straight goals in the early
minutes of the third period , to
wipe out a 3-1 Stratford lead.
Each team scored once in the
first period. Brian Taylor fired
the Exeter goal on a pass from
Randy Regier while Rick Woz-
niak replied for Stratford. The
only scores in the second period
were by Jim Campbell and John
McKeough for Stratford.
The third period was only a
minute and a half old when the
Exeter scoring spree started. The
goal came on a direct reverse
from the opening goal of the
game. This time Randy Regier
pulled the trigger on a pass
from Brian Taylor.
In the next six minutes, the
Exeter youngster's scored three
quick goals. Steve Schroeder was
next on the scoreboard on a solo
effort to tie the score at 3-3.
At 7.49 Brian Taylor scored the
go-ahead goal on a pass from
Wayne Regier and 18 seconds
later Dave Regier fired what
proved to be the winning goal on a
Midgets score four in third
to get win over Stratford
