"The situation in the islands is
most depressing." This is the
opinion expressed by Mr. & Mrs.
Bill Clarke on their return
recently from a visit to the
Bahamas where they lived prior
to becoming owners of the
General Store here some months
ago.
Due to the government policy
against non-Bahamians, all
foreigners (including Corn-
monwealthers) are being
discriminated against. The
ability to obtain work permits is
almost impossible with the result
that investors and would-be in-
vestors turn away from the
Bahamas, The Clarkes were also
made aware of the tighter
security at the airports
throughout the States, enforced
in an effort to curtail hijacking.
The most enjoyable part of
their trip was to behold the
beautiful $90 million airport
terminal in Tampa, and a visit
with Mrs. Clarke's parents, Dr. &
Mrs. H.B. Thomson of
Newfoundland who were
vacationing with her brother and
family in Kissimmee, Florida.

munity is extended to the

Eldon Steeper and Mrs. Zillah
Sheppard who passed away last

misfortune to break his leg as the
result of a fall in his home and is a
patient in Strathroy Hospital.
Mrs. Robert McLinchey,

with Mrs. Newton Hayter who is
convalescing.

help dispell that preoccupation.
