The Flyers led 2-1 at the end of the first period, increased their lead to 5-2 at the end of two periods of play arid held the three goal edge to the end of the con- test. Fred Lamb with a three goal effort led the Zurich scoring attack.Lamb counted twice in the first period with assists going to Glenn Overholt and Ron Desjardine each time. The lone Huron Park score in the opening session was shot by Jim Pfaff on passes from Gary Leger and Bob Parsons. Early in the second period Huron Park tied the score and then Zurich took over with three unanswered goals. Jim Rolph finished off a passing play with Jim Pfaff and Joe Regier to put the Plugs temporarily on even terms. In quick order, Dick Bedard Paul Corriveau and Fred Lamb registered for Zurich. Jim Rolph and Gary Leger hit the scoresheet for Huron Park in the final twenty minutes while Ron Desjardine counted both Zurich markers. Only nine penalties were called in the well played contest by referee Pat O'Brien. Although the Kings lost two games this week, both losses were by a single goal and came in sudden-death overtime. Friday night, the Kings lost 3-2 to the tough Durham Huskies and Sunday afternoon, the Lucan- Ilderton Jets scored two goals in the last two minutes of the third period and again early in over- time to defeat the Kings by ,a score of 5-4. Friday night, the Kings will play host to the Bothwell Barons, Game time at the .Huron Park arena will be 7,30 p,m. .Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the same arena, the Durham Huskies will he right back for a return engagement. '''• Jets take over first place head to Reno for gpmeS in the Ontario Hockey Association -Senior '"H" series and this weekend are heading south on a. hockey playing holiday in Nevada. The Jets scored three sue, eessive wins this week to run their season win total to 17 while absorbing only four defeats. Friday night, the Jets travelled to Woodstock and squeezed out a 05 win over the Royals. Sunday afternoon it was a come-from- behind 5-4 victory over the London Kings on home ice at Ilderton and Tuesday night, the Jets again downed the Kings this time by a score of 6-3 at the Huron Park arena. The Jets, 17 players strong are leaving Detroit airport Friday morning at 9.40 for the flight to Reno, Nevada. They meet the Reno Aces in a two game exhibition series Friday and Saturday nights. Whirlwind finish Sunday afternoon, the Jets finished in a blaze of glory as they scored three goals in the last three minutes and eight seconds to post the overtime win over the London Kings. The excellent positional play and persistent checking of the Kings kept the Lucan-Ilderton club bottled up most of the way, With only a minute and ten seconds elapsed in the first sudden-death overtime period, defenceman Bill Dunnell put the puck into the London net, The play was started by Dick Doughty and Jack Nairn. The tying goal with only 38 seconds left in regulation time was also shot by a rearguard, Jim Pinnegar. Assists went to Dunnell and playing coach Jack Nairn. The Kings actually has a two goal lead going into the late stages. At 18,02, the Jets cut the London lead to 4-3 when Bill Bourne scored after Jamie Robb dug the puck out of the corner. After a scoreless first period, London jumped ahead 2-1 in the second period on goals from the sticks of Ron Bloxam and Tom Glover. Bill Fairbairn replied for the Jets. Early in the third period, Ron Schwindt and John Boyd were with shots for the London club while Bill F'airbairn notched his second of the game for the L-I club. Another slow start It was the same story in the game against Woodstock Friday night with the Jets getting off to a slow start. Former Jet Ron Ryan of the Royals fired the only goal of the first period on a rising slap shot into the top right hand corner of the net. The second period was more than 13 minutes old when the Jets evened the score. Dave Revington was on the firing end as he took a pass from behind the net from Pete Loveless. Jack Nairn also assisted. After a scoreless first period, scoring came thick and fast in the second period with Huron Park scoring five times and the Cascadians replying on four occasions. Larry Brintnell was the top marksmen for the Plugs with a hat trick performance. Line- mate Bob Pinter assisted on all three successful shots by Brintnell while Terry Millman picked up a pair of assists, Scoring in single fashion for Huron Park were Don Cooper, Bob Parsons, Fred Elder and Bob Pinter. The Hensall goal scoring was well spread around with Bill Chipchase, Bob Carlisle, Al Corbett, Bill Cooper and Bill Cameron each scoring once. The Lucan-Ilderton Jets. have taken over first place
