Stephen township council has
given approval to a bylaw to. set
up a recreation program in the
municipality to aid minor sport
activities in particular.
At Tuesday's final council
meeting of the year, Wayne
Widdis of the Ontario Ministry of
Community and Social Services
was in attendance to outline
governmental financial help in
the program.
At the present time, the five
members of Stephen council
make up the recreation board but
it is expected other interested
persons will be added. The board
must consist of no less than five
or more than twelve members of
which two must be from council.
Clerk Wilmar Wein said this
week, "We plan to be able to allot
monies from general funds to
assist some of our township
sports programs."
The township is entitled to
twenty-five per cent of operating,
maintenance and equipment
costs to a maximum of $1,000 per
Analysis time
for farm books
The Ontario Agricultural office
in Clinton announced this week it
was farm record book analysis
time again. Anyone who may
have a completed 1972 Farm
Record Book analyzed, should
contact the Agricultural Office in
early January,
The checking of the book will be
done by local Agricultural Office
personnel and a summary card
will be forwarded to the com-
puter at Guelph for analysis.
Farm Record books may be
brought to the Agricultural Office
or mailed in. If you visit the of-
fice, be sure to pick up a new
record book - or request that one
be mailed.
Assistance on completing the
record book will be provided upon
request. Every farmer in Huron
County who has completed an
Ontario Farm Record Book in
1972 is encouraged to make use of
the "no fee" analysis service.

Seaforth, has been re-elected
president of the Huron
Plowman's Association at a
meeting held in Winthrop
Wednesday.
Other elected officers are:
John Clark of RR 5 Goderich, and
James Armstrong of Wingham,
vice-presidents; Russell Bolton,
RR 1 Seaforth, secretary-
treasurer, and Bill Hanly of
Goderich, assistant secretary-
treasurer.
Gordon McGavin, of Walton,
was named director of the
Ontario Plowman's Association
and Maurice Love, RR 3 Exeter,
was named assistant director.
The directors by townships will
be elected at the spring meeting.
A letter will be sent to the
Ontario Plowman's Association
extending an invitation for the
International Plowing Match to
be held in Huron County in 1978.
Three sites in the county have
already been offered.

and minor baseball in the police
villages are expected to be helped
by the program. Each
organization will be asked to
submit a budget to the township.
At the same meeting a grant of
$150 was approved to the Huron
Park Minor Hockey Association.
Stephen will be undertaking a
vigorous Winter Works program.
In a recent announcement, the.
Ontario government allotted
$3,117 to Stephen through the
Provincial-Municipal Employ-
ment Incentive Program,
This money will be used to cut

elm trees and do brush cutting
along township roads. At the
same time council is applying for
another $3,000 to do similar work
on private properties and
possibly help with labour on
clean-up- projects for the .fluron
Country Playhouse near Grand
Bend.
An agreement has been signed
with Ontario Development
Corporation officials whereby
ODC' and their employees will
take care of snow plowing and
grass cutting at Huron Industrial
Park and the Huron Park
residential area for 1973 at a cost
to the township of $1,500.

She was predeceased by her

(1953), and is survived by her
husband, Leroy Coleman. She
was the mother of Mrs. Douglas
(Gail) Barnes, Mrs. Peggy Scott,
and William Rosser, all of
Blenheim, and stepmother of
Lloyd Coleman, at home, Rick
Coleman, England, Christopher
Coleman, Hagersville and Mrs.
John (Penny) Deman, London.
She is also survived ' by one
brother Homer Russell, Exeter,
three sisters, Mrs. Irene
Bossenbury, Grand Bend, Mrs.
Donald (Isabelle) Wilson,
Arizona and Mrs. Donald
(Audrey) Joynt, Hensall, and six
grandchildren.

Lillian Lenora Haist, Crediton,
passed away at South Huron
Hospital, December 16, 1972 in
her 81st year.
She was the daughter of the late
John and Catherine Haist and is
survived by an uncle, Sylvester
Wuerth, Crediton, aunt, Mrs.
Laura Haist, Pigeon, Michigan
and a number of cousins.

Mrs, Garnet Hill, the former
Nora May Brown, Crediton, died
at Victoria Hospital, London
December 17, 1972 in her 82nd
year.
She was the wife of the late
Garnet Hill and mother of Mrs.
Jack (Alwinna) Galloway,
Crediton and Mrs. Ray (Grace)
Morlock, Stephen township. She
was the sister of Clinton Brown,
London and the late Otto Brown,
and is survived by six grand-
children and ten great-
grandchildren.

Home, Exeter, December 20, 1972
with Rev. Douglas Warren of-
ficiating.
Interment was in Exeter
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed

Harold (Mike) Skinner died
suddenly at his residence,
Exeter, December 15, 1972 in his
63rd year.
He was the husband of Mabel
Snell and father of Mrs. Kenneth
(Marilyn) Wood, Wingham, Mrs.
James (Barbara) Rundle, St.
Marys and J. Robert Skinner,
Edmonton.
He is also survived by seven
grandchildren, three sisters,
Miss May Skinner, Mrs. Thelma
King and Mrs. Eli (Mary) Brown,
and two brothers, Cecil and
Gerald (Pat), all of Exeter.
Funeral services were held
from the Hopper Hockey Funeral
Home, Exeter, December 18, 1972
with Rev. Glenn Wright of-
ficiating.
Interment was in Exeter
