The Management and Staff
At the December meeting of
'flay township council Monday
night, council approved two
applications for land severances
and refused a third.
Approval was recommended
for Carl Oestricher, lot 4, con-
cession 12, who applied to sever
85 acres of farm land and retain
15 acres with the buildings on it.
They also recommended ap-
proval to Andrew Anderson,
Dashwood, who applied to sever a
piece of land 75 feet by 132 feet
from the southern boundary of lot
24 in the village, They agreed to
the severance in principal only,
however, providing the amount to
be severed is increased.
Council did not, however,
approve an application from
Clifford C. Hunt to sever his
lakefront lot into three separate
lots, The reason given was that
each lot would be too small.
Each of these recom-
mendations from council will be
forwarded to the Huron County
Land Division Committee for
final consideration.
Clerk Wayne Horner was in-
structed by council to send a
letter to the Huron County Board
of Education requesting that in
1973, there be only two dates for
payment of rates. At present,
there are two dates, June 30 and
December 15. It has been
suggested, however, that the
county Board was going to
request that payment be made
four times throughout the year.
At the same meeting, the
township of Hay signed a fire
agreement with the town of
Exeter, and the townships of
Usborne and Stephen,
General accounts submitted
and approved totaled $144,390.11,
including the half-yearly in-
stallments paid to the Huron
County Board of Education and
the Huron-Perth Separate School
Board.
Road accounts amounted to
$21,108,76 and total drain ac-
counts were $11,310.47.
The inaugural ceremonies for
new council members will be held
January 8 in the council room at
11 a.m.

Christmas Is . .
By DEBORAH FORD
Grand Bend
Christmas is having a merry
time,
People all over can joyfully sing;
Christmas is hearing those
beautiful chimes,
While the exotic and beautiful
Christmas bells ring:
Christmas is when Christ was
born,
In a manger small and torn;
Christmas is waking early that
morn,
,To be by the fire cozy and warm.
Christmas is having a colourful
tree,
Fancy with lights and balls and
glee; ,
Christmas is toys from Santa's
fleet
This is what Christmas seems to
be.
Christmas is, Christmas is,
One, . . . Two, . . . and Three,
Christmas is most of all,
Hapiness for you and me.
Merry Christmas!

Little Boys Christmas
By DEBORAH FORD
Grand Bend
"Sweet candy and nice toys,
Santa Claus and his boys,
Millions of people and their joys,
Shuffling round making noise.
"Gee, I wonder what I'll get,
A truck or a boat, I bet,
Maybe some clothes, may be a
jet,
I haven't got a bad gift yet."
"Santa's usually good to me,
But I'm as great as great can be.
Christmas is coming at a good
rate,
But just like me you'll have to
wait!"
Christmas Day
By MARGARET
Usborne Central
Christmas is lots of fun
When children like to run
They run down stairs
And hop on some chairs
They say Merry Christmas to
everyone
They run to the kichen and say
the turkey is done
Mother come down stairs now
Say Mother how did Christmas
• start how
It started in Bethlehen town
When Mary lay Jesus down
The shepherds watch there flock
by night '
Then a angel of the lord came in
sight
A said fear not I bring you tidings
of great joy
For in the town of Bethlehen is
born a boy
He lay in a manger
That is what Christmas means to
me stranger.
When Santa Claus
Gets Your Letter
By SANDRA NIXON
Hen so II
When Santa gets your letter
You tell him you could be better
But you've tried as hard as you
could
You'd like a doll if he would
But little girls and little boys
You won't be missed by Santa
Claus on Christmas Eve.

Santa's Christmas
By KAREN TOOHEY
St. Patricks
Once I saw him,
In the sky,
Gliding, gliding,
Up so high.
He went to houses,
In cities and towns,
On bad chidren's houses,
He gave a small frown.
He had eight small reindeer,
In rows of four,
And a bag full of toys,
Which he took to each door.
-Dressed in red,
Down the chimney he'd go,
Filling the stockings,
(With what I don't know.)
When he got home,
He'd be all tuckered out
From running and jumping
And romping about.
