Institute hosts
area seniors

The Women's Institute en-
tertained the senior citizens of
the community at a Christmas
party last Monday evening. Mrs.
Harvey Hodgins and Mrs. Cliff
Kenney's group was in charge of
the food preparation and Mrs.
Earl Neil's committee directed
the program. Mrs. Walter Weber
president, welcomed the guests
who sang Christmas carols
before enjoying the turkey dinner
at which Rev, Douglas Warren
asked the blessing.
The programs followed the
meal. There was singing by a
male quintet, Walter Weber, Earl
Haist, Ed. Lamport, Earl Neil
and Cecil Skinner with Mrs.
Thelma King accompanying
them on the piano._ Mona
Hodgins, accompanied by her
mother Mrs. Harvey Hodgins,
favored with a tap dancing
number, and Cecil Skinner,
accompanied by Mrs. King, with
a violin solo.
Steve Dundas related
humorous anecdotes, and there
was a reading by Mrs. Bruce
Shapte.p. Guest speaker was Mrs.
Ila Kayes, 9rand Bend, who does
remedial teaching with the
County Board of Education.
Besides telling of her present
work she reminisced about her
experiences as teacher in Sharon
and Crediton Public Schools.

their Christmas party in the
Community Hall. Joe Dietrich
was chairman of proceedings,
Cecil Desjardine thanked the
ladies of the Women's Institute
who provided the meal. Cecil
Desjardine and Wilmar Wein led
a singsong with Mrs. Ken
Hodgins at the piano.
Gerald Dearing, Steve Dundas,
Ken Campbell, Irvin Rader,
Clifford Salmon and Harold
Schroeder spoke briefly. The rest
of the evening was spent playing
progressive:euchre,
LIC Supper
Friday evening was the annual
potluck supper of the
congregation of Zion United
Church. yrs. Cliff Kenney
supervised the serving of the
meal. Eatl Neil presented the
budget and Ervin Ratz the report
of the Nominating Committee.
Harry Schroeder acted as
secretary for the business
proceedings,
Rev. Dodglas Warren con-
ducted a period of singing with
Mrs. Ken Caffipbell at the piano
and Doug Lewis favoured with a
piano solo. Nelson Lamport
showed slides taken during last
summer's trip to Canada's West
Coast. During the business
session Mrs. Warren entertained
the children upstairs,
