The family and consumer
affairs meeting of the Staffa
Women's Institute was held
Wednesday evening in the Staffa
Hall with 13 members and 2
visitors present. Mrs. John Miller
presided and opened with the
institute Ode and Mary Stewart
Collect, Roll Call was answered
by what health rule you would
emphasize to your children or
grandchildren.
During business a $25 donation
was given to the Pelee Island
disaster fund. The area con-
vention report was given by Mrs.
Ed Chappel. The new year's
dance committee reported,
Mrs. George Vivian presided
for the program and gave an
interesting paper on the motto,
"A small child is like a mirror, he
reflects what he sees."
Guest speaker for the evening
was Mr. Taylor from the Perth
County Childrens Aid who gave a
most interesting talk on the ef-
fects of family life on a child,
Mrs. Bert Daynard had a display
and demonstration on rainyday
entertainment for young
children. Hostesses for the
evening were Mrs. Bert Daynard,
Mrs. Russell Warden and Mrs.
Penelope Fell.

Mrs. Wilbur Miller was
honoured on her 80th birthday by
members of her family at the
home of Mr, & Mrs. Jack Duncan,
Kirkton. Present from this
community were Mrs. Miller,
Kenneth Miller, Mr. & Mrs. John
Miller, Karen, Shirley and Steven
and Mr. & Mrs. Russell Miller,
Lee, Teresa, Gordon and Mark.

meet in Toronto
The Ontario Ambulance
Operators' Association held its
Annual Meeting at the Skyline
Hotel in Toronto recently.
Jerome J. Alexander was re-
elected president for a second
term. He is also on the advisory
board at Humber College of
Applied Arts and Technology.
Other members on the board
are: James Thwaites,
Bracebridge, vice-president; E.
M. Padfield, Rodney, director;
Charles Brignall, Port Perry,
director; L. F. Steele, Belleville,
director.
